Not so much the application it's the 6 weekly checks, tacho, transport manager unless there is less involved?
Not sure if our yard would get 1 as parking is an absolute nightmare around there these days too.
No transport manager needed on a restricted o.

If its a Commercial yard it doesn't matter along as you've space and permission to park it there.

Tacho hours, well unless your doing mega hours constant driving they won't affect you.

6 weekly, Yes it's a cost but it isn't that much. It can be upto 13 weeks dependent on a few things.

There's many things to consider but I deffo regret not doing it 10 years previously.

It’s silly in that you can’t actually do a test for the setup you want say your only aspiration is a 7.5 ton and trailer. You have to do a 40 ton artic test instead of the actual rig you want.

You can do c1+e which is 7.5t and trailer. Completely pointless exercise but is a possibility. I did my class 1 in a 10t box lorry with a 4t drag trailer. The box lorry was no bigger than a 7.5t and had been custom built to have very little overhang past the rear axle. The drawbar had a tiny short drawbar and cut in maybe 6in more than the back axle of the wagon. All in it.was no bigger than a large ifor behind a 7.5t tipper. Considerably easier to maneuver than a double cab transit and tri axle plant trailer or a 26t plant lorry. As I already had class 2 it was a completely pointless exercise.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Apparently when you chop a uk licence in for a french licence you get 3.5t towing on 7.5t so c+e... but if you take your hgv your c+e comes back with a restriction of 3.5t limit.
" C+E or C1+E ?
just C (old class 2) or C+E (old class 1) test?

no tacho within 100 klik radius of operating base.
6 weeklies can be negotiated if your mileage is low (IIRC mine was 3 or 4 monthly as only limited local mileage)
Unsure on the CPC crap though - Rory'd be the boy to inform you on that
restricted O license isn't that difficult, other than having sufficient funds in the bank - permanently

you may find that a C pass may give you C1+E
C1+E is a sub category of C+E, passing a C would just give you C1.
Or as @Smiffy says you can do a C1+E test, around here some use a 4.5t tranny or Iveco, and about a 10ft double axle box trailer for the C1+E

It is also age dependant, older the truck, the more often they ant it done.
