Went to a van place today, plenty of tge/crafters lined up ready for camper conversions. One they’re currently on with is 110k! I was only there picking up some wheels and tyres for summer use to save running all-seasons all year.

When I picked mine up the dealer was actually shocked that I was using it for work, said they pretty much all go for conversions unless it’s fleet orders!

Don't complain - suggest what's better
In part of the yard where I park there is loads of new transiporter van all awaiting camper conversions....they are churning them out daily so obviously there's folks about with lots of dosh and a desire to become a van lifer
I think a lot of dealers are going to be caught with huge amounts of unsold stock shortly. There are so many vans being converted and marketed at astronomical prices there must be a limit to the market for them. Combined with a lot of councils now putting ever tighter restrictions on where you can park over night (mainly due to idiots abusing it and ruining it for everyone else) I'm sure the bubble will burst shortly.

I’ve just had a look at getting a new one - they’ve gone up in price 30% in 4 years ffs!!! Will stick with what I’ve got for now…

How much was yours 3 years ago?
They seemed pretty reasonable when I spoke to them 2 months ago.
And they had a 4x4 panel van ex demo coming up for sale in black. But won't tow 3.5t

£36k plus vat - 4x4 180 auto with pretty much all the options on it (revolving captains chairs, diff lock, hd front axle, multi function steering wheel, led lights etc etc.
They will tow it, just not legally on the road... Had 4.5 tonne on the back the other day no probs.

Is that the panel van or the tipper?
We got quoted £36k for the 160 rwd manual mid spec. (The 160 tows 3.5t apparently the 180 doesn't)
And £35k for a double cab tipper 160 as a chassis cab. Bodies through M.A.N are around an additional £10k.
The ex demo they have is the 4x4 180 with all the extras in black but can't remember the price. Less than £36k but can't remember exactly

That seems fair? Was 31700 least year for a commerce plus with some decent options.

Panel van. Same spec today as a new factory order is over £50k with discount (over £60k list!). Mental tbh.
The 4x4 sprinter with similar spec is another £10k on top! For a van ffs 🤣

That sounds like the dealer tbh. They where being keener than that with us 2 months ago.
I’ve spoken to 2, both who I bought from previously, and they are much of a muchness.
Who is your dealer? I might have to give them a try!

It's a bloke called Joe. I can dig his number out if you like. He is based at M.A.N at Ashford but works direct for M.A.N and you buy the vehicles direct from M.A.N. and just have a service agreement with your local dealer.
(I don't know how economical you are with the truth about your fleet size, I was a bit generous and asked for a quote for 5 vehicles aswell)
Also they won't do trade ins as they aren't a dealer. They can arrange for a local second hand dealer to buy your vehicle but it isn't tied up like it normally would be.

They were doing a deal for some kind of anniversary edition with a bit extra spec that I went for but I had to ask to add in the heated windscreen.

When I spoke to them I think it was free upgrade to the next level. So select tier 1 get tier 2, select tier 2 get tier 3 and so on. We asked for the lowest level with Aircon and the price was for metallic paint bigger screen reversing camera and a few other bits.
They seem better specced than transits. But I did find 10k for a tipper bed a bit eye watering.
