Hi all, I have a Terex hd1000 1 ton dumper, I have put I new engine in, but now it won’t drive forward or reverse, the other rams are working fine, I have checked the solenoid vale on top of the pump and it working fine, the switches on the leaver are also working fine, pretty much checked everything and don’t know where to go next with it? Any help or ideas would be appreciated
Thanks you

Did the drive coupling get installed correctly? On the flywheel side of the engine is a plastic disk with teeth, always check they are good and on the pump side is a metal splined hub that mates with the plastic drive coupling mounted to the flywheel. Your hydraulics are working as they are powered by the engine mounted pump that is attached at the timing cover end of the engine.

This was my thought….

There is a brake solenoid on top of the transmission pump check with lever forward that it is getting 12v. No 12v no go. Then can start troubleshooting from there onwards as it is an easy thing to check. Like @Mick-the-fitter has asked was it moving before the engine swap.

Yes tried all that even bypassed it and put a live straight to it but still nothing, it was ok before we swapped the engine, could it be that the break is locked?

No unlikely, I'd say something is a miss since the engine change? Can you take a picture of the solenoid you are putting live to and which way round you've connected it up. Also a picture of the lights on the Terex box when engine running and in forwards or reverse. Then with just the key on but engine not running and drive in neutral. Gives us a clue about the wiring under the dash and can see if anything has been bypassed in the past.

Did you also swap the flywheel across and the engine adapter plate so we can rule out the distances being wrong between the pump and flywheel coupling. Also did you feel them mesh and have to rotate the pump or engine to get them lined up or did it just go together as they are normally a snug fit and take some jiggling into position.

It’s what I do!

Exactly that, hydrostatic trans not meshed with engine drive plate!
