So, they say that its purely revenue driven ( aka a money grab), also admitting there is a absolutely no direct green reason for the change, they justify it all by saying that its to incentivise us all to move to greener, more renewable ways of powering equipment and plant. That sounds good to them I’m sure, but where are the viable greener alternatives for 99% of plant and equipment? there are some greener fuels that we can use immediately, but hang on……they are removing the rebate from that too……

To be fair having kept an eye on the few bigger jobs which have happened in this area over the last few years an incentive to use less fuel and work more economically is no bad thing. Won't work though jobs will just cost more to cover it.

Never had much to do with heating oil, but it's 'much oilier' than kero.
In Oz, we don't have Red Diesel. The tax works the other way - you buy fully taxed fuel then claim a refund at the end of the year for fuel consumed off-road. Can't prove you used it off-road - no refund. Didn't use it at all - no refund.

It’s just a money making con!
They have just observed 100k+ machines running on 35p/L fuel and thought bugger that if you can afford the kit you can afford the extra tax on fuel!
The biggest problem with it all is the hyper inflated price of both white and red diesel currently, if it wasn’t for that it wouldn’t be such a big jump! Just going to have to suck it up, send the cost onto the next person and it is what it is!
Initially there will be so many rouges using red still, let’s just hope hmrc make an example of them!

Even if private funded there are two many places to hide on a big site and to many excuses. I was once told something that seems to ring true. 1 man working is 100% efficient but each additional person is only 75% efficient so by the time you have 100 blokes on site then they are only doing the work of 75.
Equivalent of 25 people may aswell be sat doing nothing out of lost productivity.

What really bugs me with government waste is firstly no one seems to care or is held accountantable for cost overruns and secondly no one mentions it's not government money, it is our money they are wasting and we as tax payers (and future generations of taxpayers) are paying for this.How much extra going on here?
