As above guys need a wiring diagram for a 13 pin socket as the wires I have at my old 13 pin socket ( that got ripped off) do not match any wiring diagram I can find..
Any help much appreciated.. I think the earths are black with either a white or grey trace as there are 3 of them for the 13 pin socket..

I'm wondering if the problem isn't finding a 13 pin diagram like above but the fact that the pickup loom colours don't correspond to any diagram he can find. Only way round that is to test each wire to determine whats what unless you contact ford or know a good autolec.

Yea the colours from the pickup don’t match the colours of any of the diagrams I have found including the ones above.. anyways I spent an hour or so faffing about with a multimeter this morning and have it working.. I don’t think it’s even a genuine Ford harness but hey ho it’s done now..

thanks gents

If it works it's reet!😎
If there's anything that's capable of causing nasty words it's non genuine wiring that's since been modded 😳 then plays up.

You've got to love auto wiring. Genuine or not makes no odds in one end of a connector as one colour out the other as something totally different.

Complete nightmare but sure these things are sent to try us.. and the bloody socket ripped off coming up the road at dusk lol so I had to bodge a repair with insulating tape and cableties lol it worked somewhat.. got me home so can’t complain

Thought I took some pics when replaced my socket but unfortunately looking through pics it doesn't seem to be the case.
Only way would be circuit tester and work your way through the wiring.
Only issue you may have is the constant 12v if your ranger hasn't had the jumper fitted to the towing box it won't be live

Yea had two wires that where left that had no feed at all coming to them so just took a guess and put them in the two spare connections but everything else works as it should👍.. used the tester and trial and error.

I used to know a great auto bloke ..could ring him any time ...any car ...it was like "it should be the yellow and red striped feed to the X etc "
Worst were the frogs....changed stuff from one car to next in the same production run.🤬

Wish I had a quid for every sphere I changed ..damn they were a swine if left to long.
I never did much with the hydroelastic stuff. But I was the only person in our area that would repair and more commonly, lower torsion bar rear suspension.

It was a bit of a dark art. Lot of folk wouldn't touch it. Old boss knew it like back of his hand . We always stocked new and recon spheres. Had a few tools made that helped but warming up a tight one was always an adventure when the fluid ignited...
Nice little earner them. When he saw an xantia bobbing its way down the road to us hed rub his hands and say here we go lad ...😆

Just turn it a spline?

Sort of, and iirc the Renault’s were like that, never liked doing them. But Peugeot/Citroen there was more to it. You could really play about with the ride heights on them, so you sort of had to know what you were doing. The other thing was they could be very very difficult to dismantle. Was a rare occurrence if all four splines came out without at least one being a fight! But like everything else, once you got the hang of it it was not a bad job.
