I need some advice with the painting . I started with the grey and am delighted with how it went on hand painting with a brush . I did weigh up the roller but the areas are to fiddly so I settled on the brush .

Once I’d done the grey I started painting the skip with the yellow .
Both paints are K1 from Dingbro .
The problem I’ve got with the yellow is that it’s really not very opaque and it looks like it’ll need about ten coats to cover the marks underneath .
Should I off primed it first ? If so can I prime it on top of the yellow coat I’ve just applied and what colour primer should I be using ?

Few more coats needed. I find red paint is the same too

Yellow has always been a nightmare for covering even with domestic properties on walls

Yellow is the worst colour for covering as far as i know. I think if painting from scratch a yellow primer would be used. Its an issue with using a brush as well so on a bigger area a druid roller might be better

Personally I would have sanded the skip, put a yellow primer on it and spray painted it for a nicer finish. We have painted a few things recently only touched up and have sold it all it interesting what people want :)

What’s fabricators friend Graham ? I googled it but couldn’t find anything 🧐
4" radiator roller Vin .. long handle is good for getting at bits easier ... I use fleece rollers ... the foam ones don't last long ... you need rollers that handle gloss, not emulsion ... the glue lets go real quick with emulsion ones :(

Think I would rather have brush paint marks than yellow hydraulic hoses.

That’s my thought . I hate seeing overspray on a sprayed bit of kit .
I thought I’d hand paint the grey and the skip as it has a few bashes anyway and maybe take the bonnet off and take it to a local painter to make a tidy job of it . It’s fiberglass and would look good if I got it done properly .

I will get one to do the skip . It looks like I’m going to be coating it for a while 🤨

yellow is a bitch to cover with ..... when I painted Ollies trailer it took several coats to cover, but at least with a roller you can put a thicker cover on than with a brush ....... aaaand paint quality is not what it was ...

blue.......
WP_20200410_20_00_09_Pro.jpg

to grey primer.....
WP_20200416_19_14_58_Pro.jpg

to yellow, in about 4 coats IIRC ..... 1st coat looked terrible
WP_20200421_18_12_32_Pro.jpg

red was the same ...... plenty of coats to get a deep cover

Does anyone know what route the wire for the flashing light on top off the roll bar takes ? I can see it broken in the top half of the roll bar where it folds in half but nothing further down . I will run a new one but I need to know where it’s meant to run . Should there be a flexible bit where the roll bar folds?

I was looking at this earlier on on your thread! You made a nice job of the trailer .
Fortunately when I built my garage I put under floor heating in it . It’s a bit expensive to use but bloody great for doing jobs like this
