I’m looking for a barrel of 10w30 engine oil for my JCB’s. I normally use JCB’s own oil but just wondered if anyone had any other recommendations.

We buy approx 1200 litres of 32 hydraulic oil each year from northern oils but still get brand name oil for the engine. Even though it comes in a cardboard box 😄

Since Trax advised me about oils I've always deferred to Morris lubricants but for logistical reasons that's not always possible so my second choice is always shell. They also have a great app where every item of plant or Lorry or car is on it and they recommend what she'll oil meets the spec for every vehicle .it's called lubematch I think

As long as it meets the minimum API spec that JCB recommend it doesn’t matter what name is on the label, once it’s out of warranty. Obviously within reason: if the label has a vaguely oriental font all bets are off. The newer the API code the lower the sulphur and sulphates, which is important for anything with scr as that’s what poisons the catalyst. API CJ4 upwards is semi or fully synthetic.

I tend to stick with jcb own for at least the first 3 years, helps out with warranty claims!
Just trying @LRT Lubricants fuchs stuff, I mean honestly your not going to know if it’s any good unless you get oil samples done etc.. it’s more what kind of back are you going to get if your sold a duff batch of oil. Lad on Twitter had some bad bio oil and it destroyed his hydraulic system..! Not pretty!

Got a price from JCB today, just under £700 for 200 litres. I didn’t get a chance to phone round anywhere else, will try Monday.

I use GB Oils (which is part of Morris Oils apparently). Great value, but I tend to buy a mixed pallet of 1000l at a time in 20l drums which probably helps the price.
I think any oil from a reputable source is going to be fine, it’s more important to change it frequently than sweat about which sticker is on the drum.

Yes I believe Morris oils bought them in the past couple of years. I buy in 205l barrels and 1000l IBC’s. Gb gave be 1300l tanks with air pumps a while back when I was buying a lot more oil.
