back end of my truck and the ramps for it ....... hooked on the rail and would straddle the brackets .... couple of notches in the hooks .. truck was good for 3.5t and ramps were good for 5t - apparently ..... ramps belonged to Simon, me mate who didn't use 'em much, 'til he went back to a truck, with his urban artic Mog had off him, so lived in my yard for a long time and borrowed me lorry occasionally

Yes, it's not much taller than my old 3.5t truck. I do have 4m long ramps for it.

Personally biggest would be my 2t machine I do hire a kx91 quite often which is around 3.3t. Which is just about on the limit for my ramps.

make a couple of mid point trestles to support the ramps .. extra faff, but gets the job done

You won't.... BUT the one bit advice I will hand down regarding lorries is one Trax taught me.....

Buy a Winch with a R/C and Use it......

Another top tip is over width ramps with Lips each side to guide the wheels.

Get the 7.5t ramps then you will be completely future proof. Plus they are about 2ft wide per ramp so much nicer to use.

I used to use 7.5 toner and Ali Ramps, but not ideal setup ramps where longer than bed and heavy duty ones so 3 ton no problem but the ramps are 75kg or so each heavy to raunch around them had to stick above tailgate. Also tailgate off and on every time which are heavy unless you get a barn door setup.

can be bit scary on ramps with muddy tracks and if not perfectly level even more interesting , the smaller machine worse it is.

You simply can't beat a winch for safety when loading a machine in bad conditions. Great tip.

I'm guessing whoever designed these ramps has not ever had to load a tracked machine in the dark in on a piss wet night. 8ft ramps barely wider than the tracks with about a foot gap between each rung- the perfect gap for the idler wheel to drop into as your coming down!
A winch would have been very nice as it was quite possible for the digger to slide on the ramps if the bucket wasn't in contact with the ground. Terrible design.

Yeah I often thought that angled bit added insult to injury- Shane because they're good trailers- but the ramps are like they had a bit of scrap metal left over and thought what can we make with these!

Yeah even pointing it up hill seemed to make a big difference I found. Always seemed to be a mix of using the ramps and just using the arm to lower yourself down from the trailer- the 3 tonner would have just gone head over heels if coming off without help of the arm.
