Welfare business advice

Good afternoon guys! I’m new to the site and the industry to add!
Basically I’m trying to see if their is any advice out their on starting a hire business in welfare cabins etc, the cost of a brandew cabin won’t work financially wise so my best option is a second hand one to get started. I’m stuck on where to find out where to go for advice on making sure I have the correct documents to be legal to do this buisness I understand the Insurance side of things to an extent..and land to keep units on.
Is their any other documents I would need and any information is greatly appreciated in advance.. thanks you

Yep.

Standard groundhog Welfare units are between £100-400 per week to hire depending on how much you haggle/are a national company preying on stupid hirers who want to work foc.

Site cabins (statics) are between £50-£200 per week from what I know.

Your hirers will go about destroying them either buy sticking pins in every wall, taping all the walls and or trying to actually double the cabins weight with mud. Like all optimists you will have the best intentions to charge for said damage, but they will either laugh at the bill and say see you in court or pay and never use your services unless you drop the fees.....

The big firms won't pay you for 45+ days..... The small firms will just use a portaloo and a garden shed.

I have a nice mobile cabin..... We have never bothered using it for anything more than keeping random paperwork in...... They are a PITA

That’s true but I suppose their is some capital to be made regardless of that? My area is full of these cabins not just on sites with mud etc the company is doing really well.
I am by no means a Jeff benzos but I feel I could undercut them for the first year to try and Establish the buisness to get the name out their and make contacts.

Then they will drop you when you raise prices.

Any recommendations on equipment which would be more profitable? I do have a genuine interest in construction hire, plant hire etc only thing is the operators licence and stuff to transport plant hire which is just more of a headache to gain.

I know a bloke who does screed pumps as an aside to his main job. Pipes in the van, tows the pump to site, then collects when they are finished. Unless you have big bucks to invest (and it sounds like you don't), then whatever you hire out will only bring in beer money in the scheme of things.

I'd find something a bit niche.

and heart ache ..... very few hirers give a flying **** about the gear they hire

There’s been a few folk started up locally in the last year. They seem to be doing well and it’s mostly smaller plant, micro diggers, power barrows, wacker plates etc. Mostly hiring to private individuals or smaller companies doing patios etc in back gardens.

I’m the same I’ve noticed a few similar companies starting and keeping busy.. all about taking the risk I think and chasing the work!

Sounds pretty decent considering he’s working full time aswell!

I have got a mate who bought a few trailer freezers and hires them out to events and to restaurants pubs etc who want extra freezer storage he also use to do mobile kitchens but sold that business

Sounds good mate! I actually considered the transit van fridges to hire out but that is just as good!

I did a quote for a couple who supply mobile kitchens to insurance firms to stick on people’s drives when they’ve had theirs damaged and are being replaced (through flooding etc). Basically a smart but basic trailer unit that is powered and plumbed off the house - towable to site by a van/pickup etc.
They reckoned they were really busy with it, looked a nice business idea to me!

I have to admit I didn’t know what that was until I googled it their ! It does look like a pretty neat idea I’ve never came across one in my area …
