hollow ways the lanes like that are called around here, used to do them on bikes and four wheel drives, got to many anti's now some have been downgraded to bridleways.

exactly the same here ..... where we were yesterday is one I never knew about and as said I thought I knew most round here .... bike only, yesterday's was.
some round here are a couple of miles long ... that was maybe 1/2 mile. .. will have to get me XT600 fettled up

well it was all in bits - mostly, by the time i packed up last night .... cleaned off the majority of cr*p 'ce matin' and stashed what was worth hanging on to


interestingly all the coils're 12V ..... as was that leccy pump motor on closer inspection ... so when i checked the voltmeter in the control panel that too is scaled for 12V .... Mog was under the impression that 'twere 24V .. will have to get the covers off the side of the Deutz and see what the starter is, but might possibly be 24 ... there is some really fancy charge control circuitry on the lump ....



which might possibly be some sort of split charging set up ?? .... anyone care to proffer an opinion/informed guess/whatever/seen one before??

Said lump got airborne this afters and landed on the bench

from where it took another ride on the dynamometer

600kgs of Deutz ......
followed by one tank, oil, for the use of - on't deck out of the trailer, whilst the 'Drema was fired up

can sit there for now

motor is quite a lump on the bench

as is the pump on the back end

My guess is this’ll have a pulley and belt setup added to run your “big” circular saw?

Not as big as the two on the back end of the 'Drema's Deutz, but is going to make a tidy power pack. It has a look of a bit of newness about it .. that or it's had a very 'sheltered' life ... certainly a hell of a sight cleaner than it's neighbour, the motor...

got a few ports capped off

and sussed a cap for the inlet port ..... slugs from broaches come in handy - 'swhy I tend to file them in a draw .nice bit of 4mm rubber ......


and some grease for a seal -- 6mm bolt to fill the centre hole ...

and the job's a good un

all ports nicely weather proofed and sealed off


anyone care to cast any light on the pump's niceties -- other than the fact its a Sauer Danfoss and a VDP

should make for a nice HP oil supply .... once I've sussed how to plumb it to upstroke on demand. ........ and gotten the motor's control system reconnected, all the extraneous circuitry 'out of the loop' and gotten it running .... all in good time, as they say

do you think the Deutz has enough steam ?? ... showed it to the BIL the other day - loved it and is of the same opinion as me - possible salesman's model ??

interesting comment on the glow plug relay .... didn't think these had glow plugs, but'll investigate further tomorrow after I get the covers back off ... looked like rain earlier so chucked some poly and a dumpy over it ... good job i did ...... we got an hours rain as it got dark ... not forecast at all
thinking about it, I do recall seeing a glow plug tell tale lamp on the control panel

it's been 'transmogrified' out of an aircraft de-icing machine that a certain 'well known member' creatively relocated from the scrap yard that he has the undoubted pleasure of having free range over

would wanna be one hell of a motor Alex ..... and no where near as much fun .... this'll sound glorious with a straight stack ... I did ask him to find me a V8 or V12, air cooled, but no luck so far .. I live in hope
I binned a lovely 20hp power pack in me clear out .. along with a couple of others too ...... so just don't go there

Belarus tractors ran 24v starting but everything else was 12v
They had 2 batteries with a black box mounted between the batteries that would allow starting at 24v and charge the batteries and run everything at 12v

Would say if they were like the grey import pajero/shogun's from mitsubishi came with 2 batteries but was just a heavy duty 12v for cold climates

2 batteries on land cruisers hiluxs been a thing for years even for uk market (don't know if it still is on latest models) but I'm sure some older landcruisers were wired 24v for starter.

I have got a BIG conventional pump here somewhere, that could be hung on the arse of a lump ... would need to be a decent lump though - like this ... but this one came complete-ish with VDP so'll see what can be concocted from this lot first

2 batteries on land cruisers hiluxs been a thing for years even for uk market (don't know if it still is on latest models) but I'm sure some older landcruisers were wired 24v for starter.

I always thought it was a good idea on hiluxs until we had my ranger next to a mates Hilux.
And realized they may have batteries but in reality they where half the size of my rangers and looked to be done due to space constraints rather than starting power.
My ranger battery is standard and they definitely couldn't have fitted bigger batteries to Hilux so not quite as impressive as it first looked

Maybe true but one thing i can tell you is size of battery isn't everything there's some big looking batteries out there which are 30% plastic moulding and air (jcb heavy duty 3cx battery for one).

wonder what purpose the breaker serves ... have had the three girls here most of the day, after mowing the grass, before tonight's rain, this morning, so the cover's not been off today and might not be tomorrow either, looking at the forecast... only dry spell tomorrow, I'll be 'plugged in' ... treatment morning
