I am lucky with the car I bought I get a power pod thing for free (7kw?) or its around £550 installed, it all adds up but my eyes are wide open its the future. I still have two v8's
Here's one

I have also just bought a Skoda Enyaq, full electric to replace something else. Beautiful car for the cost and same man math came out. If we regularly did 250 miles plus a day both would be a issue. What spec id4 did you go
Yep, we are electric now apart from my two toys and a works van. The skoda which is all i have now the other is due, is amazing to drive. Literally amazing and I am a true petrol headWife had Golf GTE hybrid up until 2 mths ago. We bought it at the time for the same reason, unsure of the risks going full electric. As a plug in hybrid it did 35miles on battery alone. Wife only works 7 miles from home, as a result we were plugging in at home to charge and she ran all week on electric, we only put fuel in the tank about every 4mths.
As a result, 2 mths ago we changed for a Peugeot 208e. Full electric 200+ range. Absolutely beautiful car and no range anxiety.
By the end of the month we'll be a two car electric family. No going back, electrons are the future.

Here here, get on it whilst it makes sense ..Electric is being touted as the future as currently its the only viable/available option. It won't be the answer long term as the infrastructure doesn't exist for everyone to charge them and nor does the power. I was talking to a retired electrical engineer (knows his stuff not just how to change a bulb) and its unbelievable how energy inefficient the whole electric car job is. The power lost during the charging storing discharging process is ridiculous.
Right now with incentives it's probably the time to buy an electric car run it for a time and get rid before an alternative is launched (fuel cell of some type likely) and renders the leccy car worthless.
More importantly what's the first tab like? Sounds good.Intresting

Leccy if you can make use of the tax benefits will be the way to go until the alternative comes along. Having said that the initial extra cost of the leccy motor still has to be justified unless you are already buying 80k cars as a daily. Here here, get on it whilst it makes sense ..
Anyone in leccy industry knows it doesn't make sense but screw the scheme whilst you can .
They'll tax it out before long
Reckon they'll be a rush to buy "proper" cars though ? before they can them ..if they do.

my range is a good example of how it can be with but you need to be doing range money at the start, if your a corsa driver it doesn't really work.Leccy if you can make use of the tax benefits will be the way to go until the alternative comes along. We already buy electric from power stations in france which still burn coal to keep up with current electricity demandHe's pulling your chain.
There is an inefficiency, I don't dispute, but electric vehicles including charging losses are about 75-80% efficient in converting energy to motion. Petrol / diesel are <40% at best, noise heat & friction being the main energy saps.
There's also been quite a debate about the whole issue of generating electricity and that its only moving burning fossil fuel from the vehicle to the power station, and the whole mining precious metals etc. I can't lay my hands on it now, but there was a long term study by several universities just recently that debunked that whole myth completely. It was interesting how the carbon fuel argument dwelt on the mining of precious metals, until it was shown that there are more precious metals in a catalytic convertor than a typical car battery cell.
I take both sides arguments with a very strong pinch of salt. I'm not buying electric to be eco-friendly. I simply like how they drive, and for me its become more cost effective motoring.
That's the thing about it though the vast majority of reps etc doing high miles are doing it in a 30k company car at the mo. The step up to a genuinely viable leccy car is too muchmy range is a good example of how it can be with but you need to be doing range money at the start, if your a corsa driver it doesn't really work.
The manufactures are hard into it, so its a sound investment for now.

Neighbour does a fair few miles a year (used to do 50k but less now) as a rep and that would probably be ok for him most of the time. But I'd reckon 25% of the time the 230 mile range would be nowhere near enough and charging still isn't everywhere. It is getting better there's no denying it.I think that has changed
The business buying saves 20% and gets cheap fuel and the car are value. This fits your budget mentioned and will do 230 miles and recharge in 40 mins
Looks like the sort of thing Captain Scarlet'd drive pursuing the MysteronsI think that has changed

Do you need a permit to park one then?Come on Gra keep up. Rory told you, it's a Skoda Enyaq (otherwise sold as a Volkswagen iD4 in disguise.)
