I’ve never used a breaker type postdriver- can’t imagine the punch being the same as a drop weight type but can see handy for little posts etc.
Breaker type on a mini digger is hopeless on all but the best ground and little posts. Tried it on a 1.5t on chalky ground with 4" posts, no use at all. You can bash it as many times a minute as you like with X kg of force, but that's no substitute for five times a minute with X x 100 kg!
Nice one. But now you have your 2.8 tonner you’ll be wanting a bigger hammer on there won’t you?
If one came up at the right money, I might be tempted. But this one never feels particularly lacking for my work. I only tend to do small runs, in awkward places, often priced as part of a clearance job at decent rates. That photo became 100m of stock net and 1 line of plain, at £12+VAT per metre. Easy day's work.
Anything larger would be overkill on line posts, and as I don't do big jobs I only keep 5-7" top strainers in stock anyhow. That was some pretty tough flinty ground, but I got them down to depth for stocknet and two lines in around 2/3mins each.
The nice thing about it is that the E19 handles it OK for narrow access gardens, which has come in handy multiple times. The E10 will also pick it up quite happily (cross tracks is a major no though!
