I thought spinning the tracks was how you worked out you had taken too big a bite.
How is anyone else supposed to move it out of the way if you have taken the key?

Congratulations Rory. How long was the test?
1h.15mins. pre start checks, cut a 10m slot and batter the sides, then backfill and trim up. Maximum time allowed is 2h.45mins I believe.

No intention to drive a pushy thing but in fairness it happens occasionally so won't hurt to have the paperwork

They’re Marmite, love ’em or get really frustrated with ‘em. I never sat my backside on one until I was nearly 30 but I’d put a lot of time in on Drotts, which helped a lot with keeping levels.

I've never really had a affinity or interest.... Pushy things have always seemed a bit dull and pretty limited in capabilities to me...... BUT they have the capacity to go a very good job very fast on the right setup.

After dusting out the certs we have achieved competence.... Must say I'm impressed that NPORS actually check. Very proactive too and keen to help!

Reputation is all...... Roller makes all the diffrence on that type of job.... Keeps the site sealed and tidy plus when I dig the trenches for the footings they will be A1

Had a nice phone call off this particular customer Monday basically saying that there pleased they got me and they are shocked at how quickly we work and the fact I have there interests at the fore.... which is excellent tbh.

Are you allowed to put founds in the filled ground or do you have to dig through the fill to original ground?

Grey area.

Have had BC before questioning the depth of footings, but then it was Rory spec made ground..... Hard as f**k and unfortunately landscaped in so you can't see it.

Personally unless a Geotech comes in and does a compaction test it's a No..... Whilst I always engineer fill jobs like this bottom line is I'm not a Geotech.

For that reason I tend to dig through the fill. Or tell em to pile. Depending on the situation

Years ago builders would do foundations first then get you to fill in around the block work while trying not to knock the 4 inch on edge internal walls and back then was with 3cx's
Just glad they like an easy life now and all is dug level to formation first

Last time we did a cut And fill pad for a house, bco had us dig down to good ground then install 1200 concrete rings then fill them with concrete then ring beam on top of the peers. Was 4m or so though in places. We’d sheep’s footed it as it came up.
