Bobcat now do a compact wheel loader.
I was looking at the avants, I think they are all 20hp until you get to the 750 and then it's 50 or 60 hp but £40k++

I have two Th 412 and can’t speak highly enough of them. They really do punch above their weight. I tried the avants but couldn’t get on with them and on a wet cold day the Wackers cab is a real bonus. Where abouts are you? I may have one available for hire if it’s of any interest.
Thanks for offer but my whole reasoning is to put the money towards buying rather than hiring something.

I had looked at them, admittedly not had a go in or on one. They are rated for 1.2t I believe. I just can’t see putting a flail or other random attachments on it. I see it more as a loader; bucket and forks. But I’ll happily be corrected.

It’s definitely worth trying one. There is a new model out with two engine choices and I believe the price has rocketed. Startin Tractors have a used 2017 model in stock. We only use ours with the bucket forks and muck grab. As someone else stated all these small loaders have there limitations and whilst it will lift 1200kg you need the right man on it who understands ground conditions etc as you could soon get it in trouble.

No chance with a flail i would have thought (of any use anyway) you need a lot of spare hydraulic and engine capacity over what they need as a loader.

Exactly what I thought. So you then come back to the Avant.

Do any of the others do boom floating, boom self levelling or boom suspension when loaded?

These are a few things I do like on the Avant from having driven one and checking out the specs. Do these justify the price though 🤷‍♂️

Don't complain - suggest what's better
I've got a Norcar 765. A lot of money, but I wouldn't be without it. Extremely versatile. I take it to almost every job. It doesn't do a lot of hours, but what it does do is a huge time saving and wear and tear on my back. Does away with a small dumper and is self loading and high tip. With lifting pallets have a look at the load charts to make sure it will actually lift what you need on the forks. Often the advertised lift is at the hitch.
I have two sets of tyres, dumper style and low ground pressure turf tyres. The low ground pressure are amazing. You can run over grass with less marking than walking. The attachments are interchangable with Norcar and Multione or you can just bold an adapter plate on the back of anything it will lift. I can use my grading beam on mine.
I don't know where you are based, but you are welcome to come and have a go round my yard.

The new model has a high flow option (might only be with the higher output engine)

Has anyone looked at, used or thought about those compact stand on skid steers? The yanks seem to like them and they do look nice and compact.
I think they lift a lot less, more like half a ton but could be useful.
I think you can get the ditch witch 850, 1050 and bobcat mt55 over here.

Knikmops is often used by Dutch & Belgian companies alike.
Their KM250 has a lifting power of 1800kg..

Rapid Tractors UK is their dealer in the UK. Not sure how they are with backup in the UK.

Yes I have looked into them previously. They are good and useful bits of kit, again with a high price tag. Its like everything there is pros and negs. I have a small Opico Skidster, little four wheeled stand on the back thing with a few attachments. Its a great piece of kit but can't lift anything more than 250kgs.

What's the load chart look like on them th412? Are they actually more useful than a straight mast? The way the pamphlet reads like it will only lift out and up at same time?

1.2t I believe. But they all measure the “tipping” or “loading” limit differently. Usually with no attachment on. So add some forks and suddenly you can only lift 950-1000kg.

I just wonder if it could do the 1.2 at full stretch just off the ground? The way that info reads I reckon not hence why I'd be interested to see a chart.

From experience those towable telehandlers will only just lift 1t and that's right up close. They look like a real weapon but in use are a bit disappointing. I think because its a telehandler you expect it to perform much better but forget it only weighs 2.8t so realistically what are we expecting.
The Avant 800 I've used did exactly the opposite. I thought what's this going to do - and it outperformed my expectations by lifting a full pallet of dense concrete hollow blocks (got to be well over 1t). I know the telehandler wouldn't do that. But its odd to drive and far less manoeuvrable than the telehandler until you get used to the way it steers.

I've got good experience with the Ditch Witch SK1550 and it is a real weapon of a thing but again will lift a ton max. Throws bulk bags about with ease though and on bucket work its fast! Over £40k though..... Surely you could buy a proper tracked skidsteer with a cab for that!

Well yeh I didn't expect full load at full stretch but would be interested to see what it does.
Isn't there one of these manufacturers (avant?) doing a towable straight mast? No good for this thread as won't suit attachments but bet it would be a fair bit cheaper.

as some of you know i have an 8.4 multione i find it a very versatile tool, will handle builders bags with out too any complaints with the big bucket on it will take 5 buckets full from kx 27-4 will load over the side of a tractor trailer or in to a 40 yard skip it seems expensive when compared to a small dumper but will do so much more .
