Don't really find anything interesting onsite, but so far on this job managed to come across a few bottles one a brylcreem with lid on and various others, a bullet and some form of what I hope is burnt batteries and not some form of explosive??? 🤔

That is a very weird looking round. The proportions look wrong. The cartridge would normally be much longer than that compared to the bullet otherwise it will be very low power.

Almost looks like the rear part has been cut from the cartridge

Difficult to guess the calibre, depends how big his fingers are. Spitfires had 20mm cannon. Where did you find it?
For comparison this is a 50cal cartridge:

I took a picture earlier but it didn't save and can't quite remember what the length was from tip to cut off part but somewhere between 75-90mm. Will take one in the morning.
Turns out the other bits were batteries by the look of it

Diameter of the bullet is the interesting part.

Found another back half of a cartridge in a different location can't make out any markings on it

12.7mm is 50 cal. Americans used the Browning heavy machine gun in lots of roles since the 1930's.
This is what it would look like whole:

Was guessing it was 50 cal. Still alot more to dig out so who knows what will turn up, today's hall, consists of parts of a rusted out bicycle frame, a crank with pedal arm still attached, some sort of canteen or probably a dog bowl and various other pieces

Don't normally find anything, even when with archeologists over a known Roman villa site, nothing of interest.
Have also got 3 bits of bone but no golf balls 🤔
