This is my attempt building a pit in the workshop I’ll be building soon, dug the hole ‘nice clay‘ and lined it with 1” thick steel plates to save any cave ins

then fabricated some steels that the panels slotted into and sat them on a vis queen membrane drop the panels in and Bobs your uncle

then to make sure it’s waterproof concrete around the outside in one pour

Mog, you may have thought of this but thought I would say incase you havent. Whats the water table like where you are? When I'm doing pits like this (mainly for elevators) there is always at least 2 waterproof layers. The DPM is so prone to puncture I would want to make sure you have another decent layer of something, and maybe a drain around the outside to stop the water sitting around the pit walls?
Or are you planning to pour waterproof concrete?

unless I have the wrong end of the stick .... what's gonna stop the concrete rising and finding an equal level inside and outside the panels Mog? .. assume you want to do the walls and floor in one hit? looks to be a gap under the panels?

Yes got two layers of dpm plus rubber conveyor matting down past the steelwork to prevent tearing it had the hole open since last Thursday couldn’t get concrete till today and was still dry in the bottom
forgot to take a picture but all concreted today there was a gap under the panels so the concrete could get underneath and up 30 mm to hold the bottom of the panels took a bit of pissing about but all good

Pretty dry on this yard plus there will be a reinforced slab integrated into the top of it with 30+ cube of concrete then a building cast into the floor with even more concrete panels for walls Will be very disappointed if it pops out of the ground
