Mine was a German built ford 🤣
European side of Ford has been ran from Germany for a long while. But taking it back to when they were more 'British' bil is restoring this for a lad he knows.

Used the bare minimum of tin foil to keep the mechanical bits in the right place 🤣
Like you say wouldn't wanna be in a big shunt in one but made for some fun motors.
Trying to weld em was fun for MOTs...few tacks+lots of sikaflex+ quick waft of rattle can...😣

Druid, I’ve had a look at the inverters you put the links on for

The first one will probably be ok for what you need. The thing to be careful about with those little inverters is that the components in them are right on the limit interns of capacity so I would advise buying a unit that is rated a good 50% over what you need.

Another thing to be aware of is never put a switch between the inverter and the motor. You must never run an inverter in to an open circuit.

I doubt you would have a problem with a drill but inverters have fans to cool them and they don’t like being filled with dust, particularly not electrically conductive grinding dust. Most inverters have terminals to connect remote buttons so you can put buttons on the machine and put the inverter out of harms way if you need to.
Hope this helps.

Things are looking up...come on lads since when were BL built rot boxes that handled like cruise liners fun? Poke🤪
you've obviously never had a mate cowering in the passenger foot well of a Vitesse :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ..... was plenty of room in the gap I got left with, to get a bus through ........ at well over the ton  ....yes they were big, but handled well and I'd've rather been in that, than any of the tin foil hatches

so was my XR4x4i and the Scorpio that followed it when the XR got nicked and written off :cry: The Köln shells were specially selected for the 'more special' motors in Ford's range ... 's why they didn't rot out in 12 months, like the Dagenham dustbins did. ;)(y)

1300 auto shell by any chance? apparently they were also Köln vehicles too (and had a bigger tunnel, which was handy for building clubman cars)

That cars a 1300gt. Dunno about the bigger tunnel thing not my area but i know when he did his mex he had to put floors in it and when he went to put engine in starter cap was touching trans tunnel. Apparently the factory mod when they were built was to take a hammer to the trans tunnel and widen it but he'd already painted car so i think he modded starter cap instead 🙈

thanks Rob ... yeh that first one is close to the 'limit', but can't find anything closer to 50% over, than this un - significantly 'under-stressed' in comparison.

now have a better understanding of how these can be used Boyo ... much appreciated

yeh even the auto tunnels needed more space for a pinto motor's starter nose in the bell housing ..
ala 2lb ball pein knockometer ;) ... done a few for mates (y)

the V8SD1 VDP EFi,s didn't have the uprated spendies, that the Vitesses had ... 40mm lower, thicker struts up front, stiffer springs, bigger vented discs, slightly larger 4 pots, lowered rear springs and Boge rising rate adjustable dampers out back too. Oh plus a different diff ratio, uprated LT77 box and 15", wider wheels/tyres.
Were still a very decent drive, but not a Vitesse though :giggle:

1300gt and autos had the larger tunnel and the Mex had the starter on opposite side to the normal models due to having the 2000e box fitted
If you wanted to put the type 9 5 speed box in anything other than the RS 2000 you had to do what druid said and hammer out the tunnel and also move the gear stick hole if you measure correctly you can cut it right lift the original hole up spin it around and weld it back in
My 1300xl mk1 was also an odd ball that it had a mk2 floor pan was a pain ordering parts for as I needed mk2 bits as mine was the last year of build

I'd completely forgotten about the stick hole juggle :) ... been so long since I've done one, but yeh, get it right and could just turn the cut out around and weld back in

made a bit of a re-enforcing top for one of me tool cab drawers to stiffen up the top, ready for the not unsubstantial bulk of the Meddings ... :);) split the drill at the base pedestal so I could attach the base and top board with 4 no. M12 x 90 bolts and 2" washers under then with a lorra help from Alex, who'd called by for a catch up and pick up his cut off saw, he' left here months ago, the top of the lump got humped into spot ... Alex's arrival was very timely TBF. Otherwise I'd have had to wheel the cab. to the door and run up the 'Drema, stick the forks on and persuade the top half in on a sling .... hard going on yer own :( (just seeing what yer's doin')

Adam the lad I had this off was running it on a VFD, so'll be a fairly straight forward job to drop a new one on .. hopefully ...
just got to order one after @Rob65 's excellent advice the other night (y)
up to 7/8" holes on a #2MT'll be a breeze then ... got a couple of 2MT Jacobs chucks that'll fit it and with the variable speed the VFD'll give, will be handy for broaching too 🥰

Got a letter yesterday morning saying that apparently Covid is ****ing off on the 1st April, 'cos after then I can do WTF I like ... shielding regime over :unsure:o_O
also see on the local news that Merffa is once again top of the covid list ... 90 odd cases this week - all youngsters .... BIL was telling me last night there's 28 in one little street .... must've been the huge party they all had :unsure:o_O:rolleyes: :mad::mad: ....... *ankers

and now to go collect the little un ... :D

she had great fun yesterday afternoon playing in the sun on the lawn, with her and granny's latest 'creation'

keep forgetting to say that @Rob65 's solar PV suggestion, as an answer to me P38's battery eating issues, seems to have done the trick.
Battery seems to be full of beans every time I've gotten in it, since lashing in a panel to keep yon battery topped up (y) :giggle: :giggle: ....

might get a few more ... Zetor'd benefit and JakieB, when I sort his breathing problems out ..... had a little endoscopey camera thing arrive yesterday (or was it /wed.s ?? ) to have a shufty in the inlets ...
swear there's a bit of nutshell in a valve seat somewhere and if I can sort it without pulling a head off I'll be much happier (y)
So .. thanks to Rob for the PV answer to my problem (y) and on the other advice front ..... reckon this'll suit me new drill Boyo?

or this for less money - just

Any info on the solar panel bud ? Be good for the duck , it’s got a habit of draining down over a couple of weeks
