The underlying issue is still there on the X series though, same as everything else.... Designed to be quality, then attacked by accountants and seemingly built by ex british Leyland employees.

There fantastic machines as are the new mini diggers. But you need to realise the fact that bits will fall off due to a accountant deciding a light bracket doesn't need to be as thick and Robert not tightening the bolts up. (See NTNOCN - Built by Roberts)

That said having seen some main dealer bodges/disinterest recently, Takeuchi and Hitachi have some to answer for too :/
It isn't just the accountants fault though, the penny pinching lack of quality to save pennys comes down from the top and all started when the man that started the outfit stepped back and let the younger generation take charge.

my four pence worth...bought a new bucket for a 100C, it’s spent 400 hrs digging soil, not a single rock, last week had to tighten all of the teeth, and this week one of the teeth snapped. It looked like it had been cracked probably from when they were first fitted. Watlings have offered a new tooth for the price of a phone call and two emails. Think the tooth is made out of either Chinesium or Accountitanium.

i’ve found Watlings to be far better than the machines, and over my dealings have been unfailingly helpful. I think one thing that helps is that JCB’s breaking down is so regular they know what’s likely to break and carry the fast-moving parts. Like when I had both top rollers fall off a 55 and they had a line of them on the shelf when I went round.

Like when I was in Mozambique, I knew what was going to fail on Defenders and carried half a container of shockers, bushes, bearings, springs etc., , but for Land Cruisers breakdowns were so rare that all we carried were filters and brake shoes and pads.

i thought i would revive this thread
i will be looking at up dating my digger later in the year with supply as it i am looking at doing an order for some time before Xmas
my Kubota KX27-4 has been faultless over the last 5 years and 5000 hours and all i have done to it other than servicing is 2 top rollers at about £70 ish each still on original tracks, but now the dealer has changed it may be time to look at a change

still want to stay with the 2.7 ton conventical big bum
twin axillary lines plus hydraulic circuit for quick hitch
so apart from the Kubota kx27-4 which i will be getting a price for any way what else should i be looking at ?

you want the 030-4 for the new version.
if you are talking about the kubota 30-4 the kx27-4 is almost the same just a little shorter in the tracks and a bit lighter. i struggle to be underweight on my trailer now but excellent diggeer

may be worth looking at now if red diesel is going to be fazed out
i bet the price of that off the charts
it says can be charged in 4 hours it dont tell you how long the battery will last and it is a touch on the heavy side at 2950kg
