I was talking to sunward last year at a show. They were wanting 12.5k for the micro and bobcat was few meters away advertising at 13.1k.....which would you go for?
Couple that with resale value....

😆 will do! Was going to phone Machineserve for a bit of chat about machine availabilities etc- not sure if they did this yanmar dig day this year but would have liked to have gone along to that.

There's a fella on instagram who bought an sv18 to replace a taki 219, put couple of pics of yanmar up took down following day yanmar sent back and new taki 219 ordered.
I’d have thought the TB216 would have been the fair comparison to the SV18. And the Sv22 more like the TB219?
That was Neil from Always Digging, he lives very close to me. He said he really didn't like the Yanmar, didn't have the power of his 219 and wasn't very smooth to grade with, so swapped back after just one day of driving it! Despite the Yanmar being cheaper!
But then he is Takuchi through and through, has a few of them he hires out. But strangely enough doesn't like the Tak micro and now runs Bobcat E10's.

That Sunward has some nice details on it, sloping braces on the blade, storage compartment under the seat and the step, high back seat, and it looks right. I'd give one a test drive for sure. Dont really care about resale value to a point. I want performance and spec for a good price. Selling it at the end is a bonus, it earns its money working for me not when I sell it - I'm not a hire firm.
If one of these manufacturers could make a copy of the 2000's ZX30 however, I'd be all over it, sod the towing laws!

Yeah it was but he likely tried one somewhere and thought enough of it to buy one before realising it wasn't for him. I guess that's a lesson for everyone and probably why my old fella used to say wait until the smell of new paint wears off before you find out if somethings any good. Resale isn't a deal breaker for me and especially if you keep something long enough but it's nice to be starting from scratch every time you trade a machine in for a new one.

Bet you wouldnt say sod the towing laws if i dropped you one off tomorrow.
Your licence goes bye bye and then you cant work. (Yes you can get somone to drop it off ect but how would that affect your margins/reliability/flexability)

Small machines are now made to fit the legal stuff now hence all the 2.7 and lightweight trailers.

I know lots of stuff like phones and electronics are made in China and we have no option really.when it comes to machines and cars and trucks I’d never purchase one due to China’s appalling human and animal rights issues.im a real animal lover and won’t support any country abusing and treating animal as some of them do.i may get shot down by some on here but they can stick their excavators up their arses

I know, I know. I just remember those machines to be the best I have ever driven. Maybe if I tried one now it would be dated compared to the modern stuff. It was more of a rose tinted glasses comment really.

Because I hear too many bad things.id really like a 4220 for farm work but they seem plauged with problems like self opening doors at 40mph.knowsomeone had this happen 3 times.you can imagine the damage with door flying open back onto back of cab and shattering.also the oil feed pipe comes of pump in engine so no oil to top end of engine ,more damage.also the self destroying front diffs.also cab trim falling of.sad to report these things but thats how it is.how many small jcb diggers get purchased by owner operators.not many.its the likes of travis Perkins and jewsons and other hire companies who buy em by the thousand.i have a jcb telehandler which I love but recently the clutch/torque converter cut out switch on joystick has fallen apart.from numerous enquiries it’s a replacement joystick at £1125.outrageous money im sure you will agree.i do hear good things about the new x series excavators though which is more than I can say about the new telehandler.

The underlying issue is still there on the X series though, same as everything else.... Designed to be quality, then attacked by accountants and seemingly built by ex british Leyland employees.

There fantastic machines as are the new mini diggers. But you need to realise the fact that bits will fall off due to a accountant deciding a light bracket doesn't need to be as thick and Robert not tightening the bolts up. (See NTNOCN - Built by Roberts)

That said having seen some main dealer bodges/disinterest recently, Takeuchi and Hitachi have some to answer for too :/
