Plenty of Iveco 35c s around when I was looking. I asked the same question on here, got the sane advice, and it’s a heck of a tow motor even though it’s just the 2.3l. 09 plate, paid 3.5with short mot but one local owner, spend a grand on it giving it a birthday 🎂 and I’m pleased with its performance

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
It depends on the lorry
Using standard council spec tarmac lorry's as an example
A full fat 7.5t lorry is capable of carrying just over 2.5t
The iveco daily or Isuzu van on steroids type vehicles are capable of carrying over 4 tonnes
that must be some heavy build at 5t ...... my old Iveco 21ft flat dropside was a dead 4t with an arse in the seat on the bridge .... 3.8t without the sides and spare ...... but had a pretty solid bed (1" keruing) and all the under-runs .... it's possible to build down to 3.5t tare

The emissions systems on the tier 6 lorry's adds a surprising amount of weight
Coupled with modern lorrys being heavier in general then the weight of the tip gear all adds up
Also yours is an iveco which are a few hundred kg lighter than dad or man the same size
Basically 7.5t traditional lorrys are a dieing breed

hi folks.
simple question to you educated lot.
need a tipper which is capable and legal which can move a 2.7t digger plus buckets about, dont want the hassle of tachos etc.
any recommendations
How far do you travel?

Over 100km radius you will need tacho no matter what.

You need a 4x4 or dual purpose vehicle to be exempt O licence.

Trailer that has an unladen weight of less than 1020kg carrying own goods does not need an O licence

Apparently Europe is dropping the o license and tacho rules to 2.2 tonnes
I wonder if we will have new rules to "align" with Europe
Tbh I think vans should be brought inline with smaller lorrys for building work to discourage people from using an in appropriate vehicle for the job

Tbh they should up the b license to 5 or 6 t
Realistically that size really isn't much different to a 3.5t but should stop better
If you restrict the physical size of the vehicles then overloading should be alot harder

Interesting was pondering this the other day.
I know it's not the same but watching bellends in Luton's and lwb sprinters shoot past in the outside lane at 90 made me wonder ...

Would a Fuso Canter tipper suffice? It tows 3.5 tonne and all the rest of the gear can go in the back. Different variants around but some can also be driven on a B license.

The ones that make me wonder is the twin can transits (almost always an 06 plate) with 3 tonne of ballast in the back
That in my eyes is far and away more dangerous than de restricting tacho regulations for builders tree surgeons and the like.
Therefore encouraging them to have safer lorrys as in reality if they are working doing other stuff all day it's not the same as being tired from driving. Therefore why are they lumped into the same category as someone who is driving 9hrs a day
