Yep that absolutely right Gra - grabbed it from my uncles when he ran the village butchers shop 😉
It’s been kicking around here for about 30+ years. Even ran it over with the Ford D Series 🤣
still got a big one somewhere, that they used to deliver meat in, probably 50 years ago now ..... bl**dy lid has disappeared some where over the decades though
sadly binned a smaller version in the clear out, without thinking, at the time .... with its lid
all beautifully made items, back then.
will try and dig it out and get some pix ... from an age when even storage boxes had a quality about them  ....... bloody heavy though :giggle:

👍 looks a clean unit, was it an exchange or did you keep the old one?
No it is a used unit from a dealer on eBay who breaks plant 🧐
Had a great chat with him on the phone before committing to buy 🥸
It arrived within 2 days on a P
Did ask on my thread about my dumper if anyone knew him - Tom Lownds from Staffs 🙄
So have still got my old leaking one for repairing 🤪
Told him about Plant Talk and he said he may give us a look 😉

He’s not that far from me, nearly went to look at a 1ton dumper he had for sale last year.
That’s handy to know Matt if I need any more parts you can collect them for me 🤪
Looks like he’s got loads of stuff for sale with an old school yard and workshop 😉

Been a busy week.......
Have a look what I was doing with my Groundworker mate Richard on 10/11th November 2020.
That was Phase 2 of a big driveway project. This week I've been back for more abuse on Phase 3.
We had a right old laugh and got the job done :ROFLMAO:
IMG_3971.jpeg

That nice block paving is what I dug out for Richard on Phase 2.
Off to the right is that stream/storm drain/ditch which sometimes flood the drive.
Well it won't any more ;)

IMG_3975.jpeg

Pulled up the crappy :poop: concrete with my 600 while Rich attacked it with Mr. Sledge.....
IMG_3972.jpeg

.....and loaded it in the Benford for stacking on the Muck Away. You'll remember that Rod (my son-in-law) drive a Grab lorry.
We stacked up 2 x loads for him 🤠

IMG_3974.jpeg

If you ask Richard, "Are you happy with that Rich?"
He always replies, "Always happy Dave" :ROFLMAO:
Look at those new tyres and wheel getting all muddy 🤪

IMG_3978.jpeg

How I hate those yellow plastic pipes 😖
Had to grade it about 50mm below each side of the yellow in the end 🥱
IMG_3981.jpeg

Then it was "Can you just pull a few 300 trenches for the drains?" - easy peasy 😇
At the end of the day, "Can you just stick the Wacker on the back of yer trailer and drop it off at Target Plant on the way home?"
Sorted - all in all an enjoyable few days. Looking forward to going back for the final Phase 4 😊

.......do you remember only a few weeks ago that I welded up my Benford scissor pivot pin?
IMG_3977.jpeg

Bugger - it lasted about 3 hours of abuse before letting go again 🤬
The weak spot is obviously where an 8mm hole is pushed through for the centre bolt.
So I'm gonna get some 30mm bright bar and make a new pin with no centre hole.
What do you think? Will the washer and split pins hold it all in place 🧐

Yes washer and pins will hold it but bolt is probably there to stop pin turning as only the ends will see grease. Tbh if you grease it plenty when you put it together it would probably be ok for amount of use it gets. Or turn unused bolt hole into a grease nipple.

Thanks - like that idea (y)
One suggested from a retired toolmaker friend was to simply drill an indent in the middle.
Then weld a captive nut so that a domed end bolt can hold it in place :geek:
Need to be a simple fix but above all needs to be safe 😇

The neighbour, Mark, who lives just up the road on a small farm called me at the end of last week......
"Can you just pop up with your digger and dumper, we have some oversite to be dug out on our new house?"
IMG_4023.jpeg

Tricky little dig scraping back ready for dry lean mix.....
IMG_4024.jpeg

John finally goes back to Spain on Sunday (fingers crossed) but he's no good as a dumper driver
'fraud I was on his case a lot :ROFLMAO:

IMG_4027.jpeg

Dig out done. Look carefully and you can see the old bungalow which has got serious subsidence.
This new build has loads of PILES with a RING BEAM FOUNDATION that can be seen here.
Even on all this clay - it ain't going anywhere :geek:

🤠DAY 2 at Mark's Farm:

IMG_4030.jpeg

Concrete lorry rocks up and plonks a whole load on the deck for me to play with 🤠
IMG_4036.jpeg

All Mark wanted was a simple rake/tamped in finish for the underfloor space.....
Up against the water running down out of the woods - hurry up before it rains more 🤪

Job done after a bit of hard graft 💪
Was on my own using the two machines.
John was at Stanstead Airport having his Covid-19 'Fit to Fly Test'
That's the full billy bollocks PCR test which hopefully acceptable to Ryanair 🥸

So, an interesting few days playing with mud and concrete.
Weather was very kind with only a few very light showers.
Both machines performed well and a credit to the owner:ROFLMAO:

So in between digger jobs have been doing stuff in my workshop.
It's amazing when you have 'spare capacity' what you actually take on 🤪
Our daily drivers are fairly new and don't need much attention......
.....but knowing my way around a box of spanners and having always down my own vehicle servicing and repairs, like a fool have taken on some project cars 🥸
Mondeo Titanium X TDCi

This beloved to my SIL who gave up on it after it broke down and I towed him in 😇
Main problem was when the auxiliary belt let go. The whole right side of the engine (and belt) was covered in oil.
The crankshaft end seal had let go causing the problem.
So, have ordered a new conversion kit - this converts the lower wet cambelt to chain drive.
And contains absolutely everything to upgrade the engine to a 'bomb proof' unit :geek:
New tyres fitted to refried wheels so far. Bit of fettling and it will be immaculate again.
There's no rust and the interior is superb 😊

As collected and driven back here....
IMG_4020.jpeg

This is for SWMBO who a few weeks ago said, "It would be nice to have a fun car" :ROFLMAO:
I was looking out for a nice Z3 2.8 but this came up when I was collected a desk for my daughter.....
Lady owner was selling up and gong to Spain.
Been standing since last October. Tyres inflated, jump started and check over for the usual HGF
All OK so cheeky offer made
New hood, tyres and calliper kits ordered.....
.....now taking up space in my workshop for loads of fettling.
But aiming to start using it from April and when restrictions ease ;)

Looks like they'll keep you quiet for a bit. How cheeky was the offer on the mg I wish I could persuade Kerry to have a fun car but we still need 4seets for the kids

Yep certainly looking forward to having fun in the workshop 😎
Gave only £450 for the MG TF and it’s MOTed until June 😉
For a cheap fun car which can take kids in the back I recommend a Generation 6 Toyota Celica 😎
SWMBO had one about 10 years ago. Jap import with all the options. Sticky tyres and stainless exhaust upgrade added 🧐
Grandchildren used to say, “Nannies fast car” 🥰

Sounds like a steal at that it could sit outside as well. 👍

I'm going to keep my eye out for a new motor as the car is going to want changing this year
