So yesterday morning I fitted the new tyres on the 'new' refurbished wheels
IMG_3774.jpeg

Some silver tish on the outside, black acrylic on the inside and black hammertite on the reverse.
What's not to like :p

IMG_3784.jpeg

Over to my brother's workshop where he let me use his nice machine to fit them
And yes this was 'work that I couldn't do at home' before any smart arse comments ;)

IMG_3787.jpeg

New wheels and tyres installed on red hubs. It's gotta be done. Someone will be along shortly and call me a tart :ROFLMAO:

One happy owner later

Turns out that only yesterday my groundwork mate called to book me for Phase 3 in Ipswich Road, Colchester.
Driveway and drainage trenches - work for both mini and dumper.
His 2 days usually turn into 4 or 5 :p

So you have read the story above about changing my dumper tyres AND the banter that I got about making the old ones last forever
Well you can have a chance at buying my old rubbish tyres - they have now been listed on eBay :ROFLMAO:
Some of you will recall that my mini rubber tracks was disposed of on eBay......
IMG_3788.jpeg

So on eBay I'm asking a cheeky £100 but for anyone on this forum you can have them for half that - £50
Here's a link to eBay which I will also add in the Classified section.
The money will no doubt be used to buy nice stuff for the grandchildren

I know you ebay description says a set of 4, but on the ad, above the price box, it says 1, 4 available, some people may see that and think £100 each, £400 a set, unless your being really cheeky :ROFLMAO:

So SWMBO has keeps reminding me that I need to clear out my old stuff before we downsize or I pop my clogs
To me all my stuff is what I call "Come in Handies" :p
A few months ago was rooting through an old shed and came across my grandfather's old chain worm drive block and tackle.
I last used it for taking engine(s) out of my Rover 2000TC P6 car(s) :giggle:
Now thinking about sticking it on eBay to see if someone can make use of it
@V8Druid - what do you think Graham? I guess you will have used these over the years or can tell me what I have got? 🤔

IMG_1867.jpeg

Box in back of an old shed.....

IMG_1868.jpeg

.......loads of nice chain......

IMG_1869.jpeg

.......nice brass plate reads "Original Speedax Worm B....e ...." Rated at 1.5T and tested to 2.25T with a test number of 3180
These are too nice to scrap and must be of use to someone on this forum?
I will be gentle on price and even stick it on a pallet 😇

I got my old mans hung up at the yard - didnt want to throw it out even though I have a small electric one down there as well, I remember using it as a kid in his agricultural engineers business ..... still gets used occasionally.

Yeah I too have an electric one in the barn. Like you I am thinking about hanging it up again - more for sentimental reasons

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
skipped a very similar 3t version Dave, in me clear out ... good old tools and will never wear out ...... the bolt holding the dead end tail of the chain wants replacing with a shackle or summat equally more suitable like a chain joiner, but'd otherwise get a test probably apart from no safety catches on the hooks ... not as that's the objective here ..... worth very little as a hoist, but for a decorative 'thing' ... some ppl pay silly money for this sort of stuff ... if you have a suitable hanging spot out the way, I'd stick it up

anyone ever seen/recall the endless type ? binned one o' them too .... wish I'd kept it as not seen another in a long time

Thanks for the advice Gra (y)
So, I'll hang it up in the workshop as a sentimental talking point :giggle:

So we have had a weekend of Beast From the East 2 including today ❄️🌬☃️🥶
692C23E3-7936-4866-8EEF-9E446810B919.jpeg

Lunnish Hill with drifting off the fields. Often blocks here 😬
But today went out in the Navara into Harwich. Main roads possible but all side roads are compacted snow and ice 🧊
Gonna be interesting tomorrow morning 🤔

just blown about a lot with the bitter easterly that's been bringing it ....
has had a real good go this evening, but again, sugar and enough to put about a 1/4" everywhere now the wind's dropped off .... gonna be bloody slick in the morning, as it's 'kin cool out there tonight
was nothing forecast for us 'til Friday -- and then some  ... reckon what we've had has been high borne stuff that escaped from your neck of the woods:rolleyes::giggle:
think our last 'proper' dump was March '18

We had another overnight blast here Gra. This mention that all my cleared paths and cars got covered over 🤔
Yep we really got blasted with the first Beast From the East. At that time Feb 2018 I was running my Disco 2 TD5.
Was out and about helping people by towing them to etc 😇

Ah chuck it under the floor where the road wheels can cover it in tish .. think of the spares sales " TOSSERS :mad:

My eldest daughter phoned first thing this morning, "Dad my heating is not working and there's no hot water" 🥶
"Don't worry I'll be over shortly"
So loaded up the truck to deal with a frozen condensate pipe.....
IMG_3824.jpeg

She lives on a small estate where the untreated roads are like a skating rink.

IMG_3825.jpeg

She moved into this house last November, "The boiler is less than a year old"
IMHO it's a cheap boiler with a crappy installation.
Look at the state of that condensate pipe 😡

IMG_3827.jpeg

So pulled both ends off and milky water pissed out of both the white drain pipe and the far end of the 32mm.....
Wall still has random holes in it from the previous installation 😖

IMG_3832.jpeg

The Combi boiler is a Vokera East-Heat Plus 29c - budget Robbie made in Italy.
And it would not restart after I'd cleared the blocked pipe giving the red LED fault indication (as before) 🤨
I even checked that the condensate trap was all clear and gave that a good clean....

IMG_3853.jpeg

Success - after carefully RTFM 🥸
What it says is that to reset from red LED turn the mode switch to off for 2 minutes.
Not just flick it off at the wall like plumber friends had suggested ;)

IMG_3854.jpeg

In conclusion - this is why it froze up in the first place.
All the outside pipe ons must be at least 30mm AND have a down grade of 3deg or more.
Look carefully and you can see where it goes back through the wall into the bathroom.
It's going uphill....... So the water was stopping there giving it time to freeze and back up.😡

Left like that for now to dribble onto the side driveway.
"I'll come back and fix that correctly when the sun is shining" 😇
