do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Got a 2A in bits in the barn, and my TD5 out of action with a starting problem right now. Knowing whats under the plastic with these things, in reference to the OP's first post, I'd say I've never seen a more relevant quote in "you cant polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter".
so very true

You really don’t like Jcb products do you🤔😂😂
it's the conceited attitudes that wind me up Mog ..... God's gift to plant/UK .... if it was truly deserving I'd be one of their greatest advocates. My old 3CX is a great tool ........ they just completely lost their way in their contemptuous attitude to their, on the whole, loyal customers

From a non-owner’s perspective I don’t see this - I’ve heard more
about their great aftercare than negatives about it tbh.
There are plenty of other plant manufacturers knocking-out badly painted problematic machines who undoubtedly don’t offer the same levels of support as JCB do, but they don’t get constantly bashed for it by all-and-sundry.
JCB employ a lot of people in the UK, are constantly innovating, and bring a great deal of money into the UK through their export markets. I think it’s a shame they are constantly slated, particularly when the negative comments aren’t coming from those with first hand experience of the machines.

From old lads experience Jcb do not give a flying about the customer. Out of 5 3cx's he owned (all bought new) 2 were utter dogs and they didn't give a fu*k.

Totally agree MB, have seen first hand brand new liebherr dozers pissing oil after a couple of hours use, a 100ton excavator barely out of warranty and had a turbo fail with no support from the dealer, heard plenty of stories of Volvo dealers with terrible backup, and these are so called premium brands. We all read about doobins new machines problems. Are JCB the best machine on the market? Most likely no, but in my experience nowhere near as bad as the reputation battered about on social media in most cases.

Here we go again and I have already put in my 2c worth on this debate but cant resist.......having run JCB for many years and more recently Kubota - I have had similar amount if not more hassle with Kubota's than I had with my JCB's and my 2018 U17 with 600hrs is horrible in the slew compared to a 3500hrs 801 that it replaced 🤷‍♂
I have a mate over here in France -a young apprentice fitter for Liebherr and he tells me (backed up with photos) of some real horror stories on some recent Kit 😬
So quality all over seems down the pan.....

Old lad had a couple of Kubota's from early 90s until 2001. Demo'd one before buying first 175 and reckoned they'd dropped their standards then. That's 20 year ago. I think at that time they were manufacturing different models in different countries or something like that and quality was variable between them for a while. Maybe gone that way. My argument with Jcb is how they rectify issues and that i think is where they are really let down.

Tb260 has a strong following. Never been on one personally so can't tell you anymore than that.

I’ve got one - it’s a good machine but is very slow at tracking. Apparently this has been addressed with the newer machines though. The Kubota KX-57 is a well-thought-of machine which is probably it’s most similar competitor.

Like the 290's then. They have been addressed with the 290-2 so hopefully the 260 has been sorted as well.

Youtuber has a healthy rant about Kubota today. I’ve no experience with JCB’s service personaly but seems most of the big companies take the piss now.

Avoid fr’s at all cost unless new and only you operate them

Fr wouldn't be my choice unless you have enough work to do which absolutely suits one, admittedly not a fan of zero tail machine in general. I don't know what rorys beef is with 200 series taks exactly, maybe a step further away from a rope shovel than the previous models.

Personally I think you just got a bad one. Know of 4 local to me (138's and 180's) that are perfectly sound

Undoubtedly but the complex setup has a higher chance of mess up and the back pins not being greased etc if the remote lines get damaged which they do as they’re exposed under the front knuckle.

They’re a fantastic machine in a tight spot and the fr system has worked well for us a few times but 90% the time the geometry is wrong or the arms dead in front of you.
