I need a m8 and m10 tap. What is a good make of tap?

Just bought dormer duo kits this week comes with drill as well.
I stick with Dormers prob getting my pants taken down but they work.
Got an M14 and trying to figure best way to run it from my impact Wrench...done two Taps in 10mm plate and buggered the bodged socket but worked very well.

Dormer are good, I personally have some Volkel taps that seem good. Way better than the Clarke ones anyhow.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
make sure they're HSS .... high carbon are scheiser ..... presto are an equally good make ....... personally would not recommend driving a tap with an impact ..... recipe for disaster

I've been using a battery drill myself. Is a bit scary but makes it easier to get it square.

Putting the tap in a drill-press is the easiest way to get it square - just don't turn it on.
Wind it in as far as you can by hand and you should be able to continue the cut on the same line.
This is the best lube I've found - makes a huge improvement over oil

depends on whether you're using a spiral machine tap or a hand tap ... spirals're designed to be 'driven'

I have the drill/taps, and large ones, m12 m16 etc. they dowork, but as always when you break a tap its in the worst posable place at the worst posable time!from the horses mouth, usefull feedback as ever thanks

two things to remember when machine tapping ....... the tapping hole HAS to be to spec. -- end of -- and ideally drive the tap through a tapping head, which has auto reverse when/ before it encounters resistance great enough to bust the tap

Just dragging this back to the top- this s**t is incredible. As soon as you add it to the drill tip, the swarf starts spiralling off. It's like night and day. Witchcraft, I tell thee!
