I'm not really in to defenders especially as they have now become a fashion item for posh wankers. I am getting a bit fond of land rovers though. I'm currently thinking about doing a galv chassis swap on my disco 2.

Entirely up to ones self what they spend they're money on I just find it amusing they can spend so much money trying to make what is basically a farm vehicle into a luxury suv. I mean it's like you can buy such a vehicle is it.

tidy, my d2 hasn’t been used in a year ... I got under it Friday as thinking to sell. Still solid back there but needs attention right now . Job for the week 99% of it is surface rust but it might need the seam welding . Going to dry it out over the week and get a wire brush on a drill and work out from there

Much rather have a landcruiser 4.2 than a Land Rover, my dad used to deal in everything land rover bought all the trade ins to holindrakes in Stockport we often had 10 or so land rovers of all shapes and sizes at home from 90-110-130 ex utility ones etc discos and range rovers.

After all those, Mum had a landcruiser Colorado and dad had the bigger amazon.

learnt to drive in my own ex bt defender 90 at about 14 but wouldn’t have one now other than a play thing. Did see this though the other day.

You lot can keep the landys.... I'll keep the Isuzu 😂
Yeah the mart carpark here is now dominated by pickups these days and the odd disco. Tbf folk will wax lyrical about how good Defenders are off road etc ..but for 99.9% of folk a pickup with decent set of tyres will do pretty much anything. All the decent "lanes" are either shut or "repaired" up here as well...
But it's an unwinnable argument...🤣I just love the looks when you in the Lakes and plod up in the pickup past a load of "serious" Greenlaners in the Defenders from "Hertford mate" 🤔😂😂 imagine in a 30 year old Def 😭

Pam keeps asking why I keep the disco .... not been used in sooome time, since the brake pedal went to the floor one morning and I just ain't gotten round to doing anything with it .
1990 3.5 V8 ... but one of 200 made with hot wire injection -- change over model from flap valve EFi to 3.9 hot wire ... effectively a test bed they sold to 200 guinea pigs  .... one previous elderly owner - garaged all its life, big history with main dealer pampering .. back seats'd never been sat in and 'd never had a tow bar -- 'til i fitted one :giggle: ... 40k and used to drive like a watch. It will again .. when i have the time to deal with the accumulating issues. hopefully it's an appreciating asset :giggle::rolleyes: .... just needs some TLC

I was quite a few years back working on fixing a section of a greenlane which had vanished into the peat when a load of landys came along and one sj. The lad in the sj took to the bog and just went round us but we had to move for the landy boys 🤣🤣🤣

It was coach road but about 20 year ago was rutted out about 3ft deep back then. They've had a few goes since then tidying it up.

My old series had a little radiator about a4 size rigged into the toolbox under the passenger with the blower from a pavers gas burner to blow it about

And you can have a pimped series too

So you've never put cardboard behind the grill then 🤣🤣🤣
you never asked :p de-rigeur for a series in the cold weather .... winter 1980 my series 3 had the rad blanked over for weeks .... got down to -28C one night .. those days Bluecol recommended a 30% mix for the UK .. I went into work 'bout ten that night and drained me truck, crane and welder down .. were starting to freeze ... had a Renault 17 Gordini at the time and that popped two core plugs that night .... have never used anything but 50% mix ever since.....Sennybridge that night was down to -29.7C ... coldest recorded place in the UK ... 'bout 30 miles away
was living in Raglan at the time and we had 5ft of snow in a night that year ... took 2 days to shovel me way out to the road .... was 2/3rds the way up the windows in the bungalow I was living in ...... was a hell of a winter 🥶⛄

Got a 2A in bits in the barn, and my TD5 out of action with a starting problem right now. Knowing whats under the plastic with these things, in reference to the OP's first post, I'd say I've never seen a more relevant quote in "you cant polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter".
