Not the most exciting of topics but the supply of grease I bought when I originally bought my machine has near enough ran out.
Any recommendations as the Castrol stuff I got is a bit crap in my opinion

While we are on the topic might treat myself to a battery grease gun as getting fed up with faffing about with my speedy gun.

Any thoughts on either the DeWalt or the M12 or m18 Milwaukee guns?

Got the Milwaukee m18 gun, great kit of kit use it for blowing up tracks handles it no problem. I buy lxep 2 grease from gb lubricants for all our machines.

Have had an M18 Milwaukee gun here for a year or so now and can’t fault it, gets used pretty much everyday. Everyone always goes for the Milwaukee now, so the damn thing always seem to be empty!

Jcb blue grease for me, when I use up my boxes of hollow cartridges I’m changing to spin on.. that said I find no problems with the trusty free jcb grease guns and a GCoupler.

I keep thinking Makita are coming out with a new s**t hot greaser but never seems to have arrived yet, there is glimpses of it in the States but not over here

Jcb blue is the dirtiest sh*t to use imho and tbh j don't rate it. Supposedly it was developed for the fastrac uj's as they spin faster so needed a better grease to stay in yet if you grease bearings with it it doesn't stay in
Fuchs gun and screw on cartridges for me and fuchs grease so far seems to be good enough as well. Can't see the point in cordless guns but as i have nothing bigger than an 8 tonner that might be part of it. I also find one gun end doesn't do every application. I use two different grease guns (different ends) every time i grease a digger for convenience.

I only have mini diggers but wouldn't be without my makita drill adaptor grease gun. Way easier to do on your own. Bought a few M12 bits (die grinder, 90 degree die grinder and 90 degree 1/2" impact wrench'; and and I gotta say they are s**t hot. My Makita top of the line 18v impact driver has just dies after two years, so I'm thinking about going M18 for it's replacement. Milwaukee's top of the range model is way cheaper than the Makita and has more power! I can almost get the impact driver, two batteries and the charger for the cost of the bare Makita unit! WTF?? Pains me to say it after years of blue till I die, but these M12 tools have swung me.

Trouble is I need to find a battery adaptor to Makita cause I can't be doing taking two sorts of battery to every job.

Sod the electric grease guns always flat and never actually that reliable when I worked in NZ they had a deal of a free alemite pistol grip with 4 box of cartridges
This meant that every tractor implement machine lorry pickup and anything else you could imagine had a grease gun strapped to it so they where more than a few places away
This works out far more convenient as every time you did anything you just bung a couple pumps in meaning that any down time was kept busy
Also a good way of doing uj's as if you check every time u get out it's quicker than shuffling backwards and forwards for ages
Also had the benefit that alemite pistol grip guns are the absolute dogs danglies of grease guns
2 speed for hplv and hvlp brilliant chucks that last for ages
Between having them everywhere and having nice to use guns things actually got greased which is a miracle considering it was staffed entirely be students


As for grease just get anything with colour added so that you see it and don't end up with it smeared over every surface and item of clothing you can possibly find

Normal gun and haffa green for 3t because fuchs gun wont fit on it.
And by coincidence this afternoon been trying to do what Kubota should of done and find somewhere to put a grease gun on a u17 unless im missing something

After some scum liberated my dewalt impact driver, wrench and near enough brand new pump I changed them for Milwaukee mainly due to the impact wrench being far more powerful than the DeWalt version I had, although to be fair it's way over kill for what I actually need. The impact is also more powerful, the pump is 12v and a bit smaller and also not as powerful as the DeWalt and also missing the ability to blow up inflatables but was half the cost and availble

I run a Milwaukee grease gun and can’t fault it. Mind you I haven’t used any other battery gun so can’t compare them. The Milwaukee are miles ahead power wise for 18v stuff
Think Makita is around 440nm tighten and the DeWalt is 950nm tighte and 1650 undo, whereas the 1/2 Milwaukee is 1356nm tighten and 1900nm of undo force, their m18 1" version is just over 2000nm tighten and 2400nm of unfastening.
Their M12 impact is around 340nm tighten.
Looking at the figures probably should have bought the M12 but it's nice to know the m18 will see pretty much everything undone

Think the 3/4 makita is a lot higher than 440nm tighten more like 1050 tighten and 1700nm undo. Imho there's not a lot to choose between the big 3 brands you mention. It's more a case of choose the brand who makes the range of tools you're wanting on the same battery to give you the most flexibility and cheapest way of buying as you won't need to buy batteries and chargers with every tool.
Personally running makita but that's because they were the first li-ion (2006 i think) and I've still got the first two drills i bought then and they're still going along with a lot more since. I have known of a few lads locally who have had a few makita tools die sooner than expected, but often you find their not uk market tools (batteries were a big one at one time but not UK batteries).
There's a few guys on YouTube put various cordless tools head to head. Forget manufacturers figures in reality they are all v close.

But that's my opinion and heck it's time for 2021 and a new kit wishlist

Be interesting to see how the makita 40v turns out to work. You get what you pays couldn't be more true mind, all the big brands do cheaper models and some unique for company's like screwfix which people buy and then slate them for being useless. Whatever anyone chooses to buy just check its model number on manufacturers website so you know what you are getting.
