they each work on the same nipples, but I do find the ying tongs easier to get on / off with their extra 'handle' and tend to use them in preference to the original G,s
I bought my original G,s before the ying tongs appeared on the market (and before they'd copied a fast selling product, as usual) ...
The G couplers are good in my experience. If you look after them then they will last well. I have replaced the spares on one of them which rejuvenated it, unfortunately it did last long until some eejit jammed it in a UJ and squashed it! But last time I looked for spares for worn one it didn’t look worth the hassle, new ones were circa £18 iirc off ebay on a quantity deal, so didn’t bother with buying spare parts.
I spent 1900 quid on an HP A0 plotter many years ago James .... expecting it to be a European/American product.... turned up in it's big box with "Made in China" proudly emblazoned across the box

forgot to say, again, ... in fairness, I do find them an easier use item
bent the gripper jaws on one of mine trying to pump a blocked nipple ... it hung on pretty well ..... 'til it let go .. so technically abuse, but you don't know that 'til it won't pump and it pops ..... since replaced the offending item and reamed the crap out of the gallery with a fine twist drill
.... grippers took some sorting after ..... at least getting the G to relinquish its grip on them did ... as said earlier the centre body took some removing
that's interesting ..... my ying tongs have the handle which makes use much easier as you say , but only 3 grippers arranged at 120 deg.s .. that one pictured has 4 like the originals .. IMHDO three are stronger

Nice and compact, really handy that 
I’ve just replied to your other post about these - I’ve got one and it’s crap sadly (which is a shame as it ticks the ‘low profile’ box that is the G-coupler’s Achilles heel).I was picking up a new damper for a trailer today and came across these on the counter. It felt well made and nice easy design. It locked ok well to the sample nipple.
Anyone else come across them?
I’d guess the price was eye watering, the parts guy didn’t know the price at the time.
