Ifor Williams trailer work lights

I’ve ordered for feb delivery an ifor Williams tiping trailer,

has anyone fitted work lights to them namely extra reverse and some work lights on ladder rack.
It has a battery and remote tip etc can run straight from that and use the charge while towing function I think but was wondering about powering them directly from the euro connector.

ordered some durite lights rather than the Chinese led ones

also any tracker recommendations for it as theyre like the most stolen tings lol

I'd just take a feed from the battery then you can use the lights if you leave the trailer somewhere.

Have you seen the remote tip setup that James covel has fitted to his it would be worth having as they are painfully slow coming down the last 3 ft when empty

Depending what your towing it with a new ifor will have 13pin connection and a junction box under the bed so adding extra lights on the reverse circuit would be easy

Yeah says in there I’ve ordered remote tip, it’s only £79 option. I’ve had nearly every option apart from solid sides Had mesh on the 12x6

Nothing wrong with Chinese LEDs in my book

I’ve got a few failing ones on my kubotas where say 4 of the 8 leds have gone, or they’re full of water they aren’t ip67 etc. I’ve got plenty of Chinese light bars on dumpers etc but when you do compare to say the Stedi lightbar on my amarok there is a difference in quality

I'd have them relay operated. When vehicle power is provided their +ve feed would come from vehicle, when removed it would be battery. Then a second relay to go from a manual on/off work light switch which is over-ridden when reversing.

So if backing up, they will be on from the vehicle.

If the trailer is connected to the vehicle, the lights will be powered from the vehicle if you toggle them on.

Finally if no vehicle, you can toggle them on/off with the switch too.

Maybe throw a VSR in there for battery protection too.

I did, the newer ones drop in nicely hardly any protrusion and handy for whackers etc think they’re only 300kg rated

Imho the durite ones are reasonable enough price wise to not bother with chinese ones and they don't affect the radio either.

I've got loads of Chinese LED units. Cheap and plentiful, never had any issues.

I'm not necessarily saying there's anything wrong with them just don't see enough of a saving to use them.

and a massive difference in price though ... could get through a few chinkies before you match 'em

IMHO its better to buy better the once than change them a couple of times and create more chinese landfill which is a byproduct of all this disposable crap

48w Chinese ones are a fiver a go. Had some on vehicles five years with no probs.

I’ve been thinking about something similar probably wire a load of work lights to come on with reverse lights with a simple switch on the trailer so can isolate them for when you’re reversing next to traffic etc.

I rewired a trailer recently - the Ifor wiring centre is nice to install:

Wire a couple of led work lights off the trailer side lights through a switch. If you're reversing at dark one of the most off putting things is glare from the tow vehicle reverse lights off the front of the trailer and the trailer front marker lights (neither of which I've ever done anything about yet).

On my car when towing & reversing it does not turn cars reverse light on, only trailers.
Same with fog light only trailer one comes on.

Check the earths- I've had a couple go like that and it was a corroded earth.
