So this week I've been with my old mate, Richard who runs a one man band groundworks business.
He is typical 'old school' and really takes the piss out of "Can you just....."
Pulled back this band to reveal the crappy concrete that will be replaced with block paving. We have done phase one and this will be phase 2.
"How deep we going Rich?" R - "About 300mm"
So much crap

under the old concrete. Foundations, blocks, bricks, old drains and even a complete manhole

This is the place where I previous dug up the gas mani - so I know where that runs
"Can you just move the crushed down ready for grading off"
About 20T moved about 80m down the old drive......
Here Richard looking for more snags adding to the delays
So bu 'close of play' today had pulled out more than 2 lorry loads of mixed for the Grab lorry.
Good old Rod, my son-in-law, turned up bang on time

Note the superb block paving on Phase 1

He'll be back tomorrow for another load.....
Richard 'in the zone' with a nice Amman diesel Wacker after I'd graded the crushed to with 10mm

Just the other side of that bank is a drainage ditch which takes all the main road water away.
That's going to be gadded off and held back with concrete gravel boards.
Back at home SWMBO is getting in the Christmas Spirit.
This area is our (now reductant) Tier 2 outside meeting place.
Sharon is really low and is embracing positivity to get her through these challenging times
