Looking for a hydraulic grab for a 1.5 ton Takeuchi also interested in any other attachments I did have a boom broom and stupidly sold it it if anyone knows of any second hand bits I’d be keen to see what is about
I can’t have a thumb as you cannot weld to the dipper on the new Takeuchi 216 it’s a real shame as I had one on my 016 and it was greathydraulic thumb would be a workable compromise perhaps .... possibly even more versatile![]()

probably HT steel ..... technique would be to put a spreader plate on, to take the loading out to the existing welds at the sides and taper any of the cross welds with a lozenge-ish shaped plate .. it'd probably void any warranty thoughWhy can’t you weld to the dipper ?![]()
install some/plenty of riv-nuts and bolt a good sized plate on to spread the loadingI can’t have a thumb as you cannot weld to the dipper on the new Takeuchi 216 it’s a real shame as I had one on my 016 and it was great
I .might wait for the end of the warranty period if I didn't know any better. Can't see any other reason unless it's to do with a specific metal type
Could be a load of bollocks the dealers are spinning out too. We had a repair to do on a log max harvesting head he had on his Tigercat harvester, he was told it couldn't be repaired as it was a special grade of steel, oh and they wouldn't give us the privilege of knowing what the grade was. We had nothing to loose so we lopped a bit off and sent to a lab at Zurich for testing and they sent us a certificate saying S275. We did the repair with some hardox 400 and it outlasted every other head he knew of in the area. They could be trying to make out its something special but maybe its not. I'm sure it's a fully welded assembly already so can't see why it can't be welded a bit more![]()
it will as long as you don't tilt itAlso running a powertilt so a thumb grab wouldn’t really work
Never use em together. It’s a grapple not a thumb tooit will as long as you don't tilt it
@doobin runs a tilt hitch and thumb ... don't think he has any issues![]()
thought you had a hyd thumb on yours????? or was that StrottNever use em together. It’s a grapple not a thumb too

Could you fit a tractor top link in place of the fixed bar the swivel balls at the end would give you some degree of movement when combined with a tipt hitch
