Hi everyone, been lurking a while

Hi all,

As above, I've been lurking on the forum for a couple of months looking for advice and opinions on Mini Excavators.

Just sold our Hanix N120 so on the lookout for a newer 1.5-2 ton replacement.

Currently trying to work out whether there's business justification to buy new, vs a secondhand Takeuchi TB016 or Kubota KX-016

Other than that we have an old Ausa high tip 1 ton dumper, and a petrol Bobcat 742.

Cheers, Ash

You won't go far wrong with either of them it'll be a case of ringing dealers to see what sort of deal you can get on a new machine. It's nice to have new especially if you plan on keeping it a while as you know where it's been but both those machines are pretty bomb proof

You can’t loose on a new machine if you use it a few days a month. Finance is cheap currently. It’s a s**t time to buy though. Secondhand prices through the roof and massive lead times for new kit.

You've missed the boat for a new one unless it's in stock i reckon. Unfortunate as well as manufacturers often have price rises beginning of Jan, coupled with short supply and brexit its not ideal timing. As said already second hand prices are ott at the moment. Unless you get lucky and find a machine in stock which is what you're actually after or a reasonable priced second hand I'd be prepared to be patient. Depending on how much you use a digger hiring one locally could be an option in the meantime.

Sunward are having a push into the UK market at the moment - apparently they are decent machines, well spec’d as standard. They may have stock and are probably well priced. I’m not sure how their residuals will hold up though.

Sunward stuff does look ok on paper residual is yet to be tested but if the dogger stands the test of time you could like revert to 50 percent 3-4 years imo

I've had a price on a new Bobcat E17, stock due in before year end.
£15.2k plus vat with the 0% finance.
That works out a few grand cheaper than either the TB216 or KX016

Anybody on here use one?
Had a price on the E19 too and specs look very similar, different arm geometry and hydraulic pump but same engine, tracks etc.
So would appreciate opinions on either.

Yeah agreed prices of second hand are sky high at the minute, which was great for selling the Hanix. Doubled my money on it in a year.

Cheers,
Ash

Can't be any worse than a TB216. 😂
Luckily i don't have one

If you want an 016 then unless you want a digger getting on 10 yr old 219 is the closest you'll get. Not anywhere near that e17 price though.
