In the Danish capital, a large truck loading crane was tipped over on Tuesday, with the boom fully extended. This banged on several cars that were parked in a parking lot. As if by a miracle nobody was hurt. The crane operator suffered a mild shock and needed medical treatment.

Crane, accident, Copenhagen
The crane hoisted material into a new building in the central district of Nyhavn

The crane looks like a massive World Power crane, evidently a Erkin ER-375000L9 operated by Skaks Special Transport. This crane is built on a 4-axle Nooteboom semi-trailer.

Crane, accident, Copenhagen
Whether the ground gave way or the crane might not be properly supported is unclear

Crane, accident, Copenhagen
The outrigger made nearly two out of a parked van

Crane, accident, Copenhagen
The jib landed on a car; luckily nobody was in it

The crane was to do light hoisting work on a tall new building, but with a full boom; so he was completely ballasted. However, as we have learned, the crane was fully supported on one side due to the narrow road. On the other hand, it was only supported in contour. That did not seem to be enough.

'banged into several cars' :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Good old Google Translate.

For all the high tech stuff we see come out of Scandinavia I assumed that this sort of thing just doesn't happen. Just goes to show that human error would appear to be unpreventable.

Grah, woudl you say not the right tool for the job?

I'd say wrong man in the seat ..... there's six out riggers on that ..... two deployed to their extent .... four still in their carrier tubes

Hind sight is something that he has now learned the hard way!! When I had the hiab on the I had gone to pick up a roller which was right on the limit. Picked it up and span it round. Overshot the mark and the truck was listing to one side. Enough that it made me stop and think before I touched another control. I had not dropped the leg down on the other side. In a rush, careless, stupid and much worse could be said. But at the end of the day had it gone over it would not be an accident as it would be firmly on the my shoulders.

I've literally just passed that truck going through our town! Front deflecter smashed down but everything else including the trailer didn't look too bad.

What did we say about self drive hires?

I told him not to scratch the paintwork, to his credit he didn't  but I've no idea how the f**k he got it to end up like this. An impossible feat one would have thought- back over the tracks with the boom down. Managed to get it halfway back over with the truck, then it started first turn  and I lowered it on the boom and truck.

He still hasn't finished the job, is keeping it to use tomorrow. So that's cost him £200 for 2 days hire, £70 for the recovery and some hydraulic oil (cause I'm nice and he seems a decent guy, plus it was kind of funny) and £20 for the Muck Truck cause I took pity on him- he'd be there till Christmas otherwise. So that's £290. Plus two days of his time. I'd only have charged him £260 for my guy to do it with the 1.7t, and he wouldn't have had to break all the concrete up first either!! And with it only being in the town my op would have been back by lunchtime

Ah well. A couple of hours of my day and the finance is paid for this month. On top of the three other days it's done already.

Nope and didn't loose a drop of engine oil. I was surprised. Must be the nice new rings, she's only got thirty hours on her.
