Meh. It's just a machine. My R17 is serviced on the button, greased properly and oil changed every 100 hours. But she's scratched and dented to f**k. It doesn't bother me, she makes me so much money.
I doubt your response'd been the same if you'd arrived to a self destructed engine, having taken out most of the rest of it, as it exploded, after running away on it's own sump oil  ..... yes they are tools and a means to an end, but they do deserve a level of respect and when you've shelled out 'hard earned' to buy them, I'd be ****ing tamping:mad:

I think I’m just mellowing in my old age. It’s hired under cpa model terms so all covered if it did. Cosmetic is secondary to profit for me but I’m aware that may be an unpopular opinion 😂

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
Had a call today from a pal of mine to ask if I could help a stuck wagon up the road from me so nipped around in the van to assess the situation and found this

The front wheel had dropped into a small manhole

So when back to base loaded up my truck with my machine to get a bit of weight on, managed to hook a chain from the front of my truck to the back of his trailer (which was fully loaded with 26 tonnes of baled cardboard) and eased it out(y)(y)

A mate found some running sand with his JS160 so I went and dragged him out this afternoon (after laughing and taking photos obviously!).

It was very bogged, incredible suction holding it in. It made my tractor sit up a bit on the winch!

Just a bit of cleaning to do now...

When someone is in that sort of fix you tend to make yourself available, especially when it’s a friend! It even cleared my hangover from yesterday’s pub crawl...
That is the sort of farming community attitude that got me unstuck!!

this one is a good ten years old and AFAIK ... was never ever reported upon by the media .... not plant but the underlying message relates to anything and everything !!
" The spanking brand new Airbus 340-600, sat in its hangar in Toulouse , France without a single hour of airtime.

Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) on November 15, 2007 to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi .

The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to take off power with a virtually empty aircraft. Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is.

The take off warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had all 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to take off but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc.) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm.

This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air. The computers automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on.

Not one member of the seven-man Arab crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, so the $200 million brand-new aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it. The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown, for there has been a news blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere. Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Moslem Arabs. Finally, the photos are starting to leak out. "

2010 this time
" now heres something you don't see every day

IT'S A 12 STORY BUILDING IN CHINA. LYING ON THE GROUND

!1_multipart.jpg
(1) An underground garage was being dug on the south side, to a depth of 4.6 meters.
(2) The excavated dirt was being piled up on the north side, to a height of 10 meters.
(3) The building experienced uneven lateral pressure from south and north.
(4) This resulted in a lateral pressure of 3,000 tonnes, which was greater than what the pilings could tolerate. Thus the building toppled over in the southerly direction
.
!2_multipart.jpg

First, the apartment building was constructed
!3_multipart.jpg

Then the plan called for an underground garage to be dug out.
The excavated soil was piled up on the other side of the building.

Heavy rains resulted in water seeping into the ground.
!4_multipart.jpg

The building began to shift and the hollow concrete pilings were snapped
due to the uneven lateral pressures.

The building began to tilt
.
!5_multipart.jpg

And thus was born the eighth wonder of the world
!6_multipart.jpg

If the buildings were closer together there would also have been a domino effect

A fair amount of social media-esque embellishment in the A340 story. Iirc the main reason was they never chocked the wheels, then when the engine power was too much for the parking brake and the aircraft started to move the crew stood on the pedal brakes, releasing the parking brake altogether. It is true that they could’ve simply throttled back when it started to move though.
