got the cover ready tonight ... in case ..... and sure enough it rained 'bout eight o'clock this evening ... so it went on .... Reo up for another weekender again ..... means a.n.other early rise .... s' been a looong day again today, interspersed with a two hour hike around 'the farm' again this afternoon, doing a viewing .... 'nother one Monday afternoon and loads waiting to come look !!
been sorting the drive lights this afternoon and evening, ready to fit ... spaced out for Reo to build around ... 32 of these for starters ...... that catsu bar bender did a great job on getting them all spot on,.. with some careful setting up of course
puts them about 35-40mm recessed into the stone face ...... must remember to vaseline the screws, 'fore Reo sets about 'em
gotten six out of the eight sorted by nine this evening ...... two more to do .. but i'd had enough for one day
then get all the wiring conduit fixed onto the block face with 'em ...... tomorrow hopefully

and all on the wall, with a few wired up by tea time ... would've carried on but didn't have as much flexi as I thought... and ran out 100m ordered last night ..
flexi is only protection, whilst Reo buries it in his masonry cable fittings're all IP 68...
and only thing seen by the end of Reo's contribution'll be the light units recessed into the wall's face
's pitch black here in the nights ... alright if you know where you're walking ... these'll aid nocturnal navigation
pam wanted to see what the steps looked like ...
won't be quite as in yer face when they're sat 35 mm back in their pockets .... and has thrown up a n other issue .... which needed addressing this morning ... had to strip the one nit back off .. to add a nother cable fittng ... this should have been a stop end .... but nope ... some lights on the gate posts above the steps'd look good ... apparently .......... and I agree .. so new cable needed laying in from that stop end unit
having reassembled it after perforating the case for a second gland , 'twere time to get the bigger toys out to drill through the wall ..
Spit I've had for many years ..... puts an inch hole in 9" blocks/concrete walls pretty effectively

Clara has had a great couple of days with her cousins from Plymouth .... 'monkey' in her natural habitat
and growing fast ........ poly tunnel's had a lot of use the last few days ...
if it's been too damp to congregate on the lawn .... both big and little kids have had a great couple of days... Josh and family left for Dover this morning early and Vicki and co are off to Cornwall in the morning, so we're getting a break for a week or so ... from visitors at least ..

spotted a tree in the woods, down by the river which was amazing ... must've walked by it several times, but never noticed it before
got a lot of crud shifted this morning, after me infusion ... and some crap spread out for 'burying' .... two dumpies of what had been decent stone when it went into 'em .... turned to crap like the pallet-fulls
.... may be a few of them end up there too ........drain's 40mm clean got built up to level .... and lasered it this evening ..... the bubble in my feet was bang on .. I was impressed
planings were a lot firmer than i'd expected 'em to be with 17t of Hydrema tracking back and fore across 'em, even with a few tonne of stone on the forks ... tidied the tram lines that had been created and then ....
juggled Reo's sand bags about a bit, to get 'em closer to his mixer ... no point in him walking back and fore when i can drop 'em right where he needs 'em
stuck the battery back on the golf .... bugger wouldn't start yesterday .... would NOT ****ing start today either, despite 24 hrs on me Durite conditioning charger ... showing 12.6V, but just click, click, click
...got a battery organised to be dropped into the garage in the village, so's I could pick it up when I went up the farm ......
bite to eat and departed for my 4 o'clock viewing appointment ......grabbed the battery on the way there, fortunately ... they shut at six and was way past that when i came back by ....
and the Golf lives again this evening, with some new sparks applied and fitted
finished the evening off with a major crud burning session .... a few dead pallets and various other crap about the place, which'll all get buried under at least 30t of planings tomorrow .. hopefully .....

if I go to bed too early .. as in before i'm dropping .. I just toss and turn and get very little decent sleep ... so usually one-ish .... up at circa 7.30 and ready for Reo by eight these last couple of weeks ... gates open, shed open and power lead run out, cats fed, tea in bed for Pam and I'm on my second coffee when I make Reo's for when he arrives at 8 ..... this morning was manic from about 8.15 ... Had open reach on the phone, wanting to come and look at my incoming line socket ... been having it dropping stuff and losing it for months now and been waiting weeks in the 'covid' queue
Have had a young fella ringing several times a day for the last week checking on the 'state of play', from SSE and he'd organised an engineer
'Steve' turned up .. changed the socket, which is maybe a year old after a storm blew t'other off the wall and put his test gear on ...... to immediately find a major issue --- Hurrah ... house to pole.....fine ...

and he went off in search of somewhere else to test, to narrow it down a bit
Him and his mate, who'd arrived with the cherry picker, managed to narrow it down to a couple of hundred metres ..... and swapped us onto some different pairs, which weren't showing such a serious issue ..... and I'm on it ATM ... seems OK so far
The cable beside the drive was barely 6" below the surface when i found it in '10
can still see the mole -ing hole it runs in ...... so it's a suck it and see jobby for a while ... He did say it was a wonder it was working at all with the readings he was getting ............

we've been playing rock Jenga this evening .... have some lovely dress stone corner blocks which were left in the garden of my old place in town, left over from a large dressed stone building in my garden there ... valve station on the main Talybont water main 24" & 27" pipes ran through my garden ... built in 1936 ... can see a corner of it here ...
and wasn't leaving 'em there when i sold it ... knew they might cuminfasummat

see what he thinks in the morning ..... they just look too regimented, placed on each other directly ... and we both like this ... aside from the fact that it's a tad rougher than his efforts , it gives us an idea on the spacing

well I've caught up with 400 odd posts ... now to catch up with what i've been up to !! ... been busy !!
the following day (wed.s) Reo turned up with his stone saw he'd been and collected from one of his mates, who'd been using it - read wrecking it - and i spent the morning trying to make it usable again
new wheels required on the table ... of the three that were left, two were sized solid and t'other was totally burgered ... so 4 new ones required ... best I could do with limited gear available ...
freeing the siezed bearing and motor was another challenge ...... this was nigh on new when he lent it out .... I'd have charged 'em for a new one and left it there
it now has all 4 legs in position and all the same length !! .... runs sweet and was ready for action ....
he was somewhat amused by our 'rock jenga', but he said it gave him the idea of what we were trying to achieve ..... and left it there .... whilst he built his way towards it ...
I spent some time sorting some of the pallets of rock that'd turned to tish, into a new location ... in anticipation of some more black stuff
which arrived the following day ... first load got a good 10t spread,
whilst I waited the arrival of the following 30t
in the mean time the 'stone wizard' had gotten to the 'jenga' and was performing his black art ...
amazes me what he can get done in a day
me trunking arrived in the afternoon .....
and spent the evening getting it attached to the wall
ready for cabling up
the 31st was some bit hot .... and Reo got his A rab head gear out .....
and charged onward and upwards .....
the guy is in good shape for a 60 year old diabetic .... Apparently when diagnosed he'd dropped to 9st .. virtually over night ... I know what that feels like!!

not bad for 20 days graft .... we are well happy .... other than the fact we've lost him for two weeks ... to a job for his sister in Norfolk, which has to get started or lose the planning on it ....
I spent some time 'stuff juggling', to allow me to get some more black stuff spread about ..... hauled me Lincoln Ranger out from under its cover, together with its 'bed mate' on the pallet (which fell apart when shifted) my diesel compressor (ex-tyre fitting truck jobby)
and picked 'em onto a fresh pallet, 'fore sheeting 'em down again
Sunday was a day of rest ..... and me first lie in in three weeks .... Reo just doesn't stop .. 7 days a week ...
he's bloody good though
two top steps are yet to have their front faces fitted .... I did all the others a few years back ... Reo'll do 'em in a jiffy, by comparison !!
And Monday was Clara day ..... back from her week in Cornwall and itching to get dirty ..... " can I wash this grand dad?" .......
thought she meant the 40mm to start with !! ....... followed by a tour of the gear .... Humperdumper was a new discovery, since i'd hauled it out of the midst of everything else
and she loves jumping up and down in the trailer, making as loud a bang as she can !!
and that about gets me almost up to date .... apart from a major tidy up beside the new wall ...
and getting all the left overs stacked onto a pallet ready to move up to the next run when the wanderer returns ..... wrapped it with some bale wrap this morning to hopefully keep it all in situ when I get hold of it in two weeks time ..... can stay there out the way 'til then ......
as for today's exploits .. they'm still in the phone and'll have to wait 'til tomorrow ....... I do be nadgered and I'm off to me pit
