yeh this is the problem ... they have to make up their money somewhere to pay for those shiny bottles .. try Air Products, were significantly cheaper than B O C last time i looked ..... I was an industrial gases agent for B O C for 15 years ... and me mate down the road went over to AP last year, saving himself a LOT of bucks monthly

I got given a rental price of 5.75/month for a 30l pure argon, yet I'm paying over 10/month for my argon/c02 for my mig (same size). Not sure what the story there is, safe to say I'll be doing some careful enquiring tomorrow.

Pure Ar used to be circa twice the price of Argoshield 5 / TC(12%) / 20 (heavy) (Ar/CO2 mix - three different proportions available), for the gas .. rental was the same for same size cylinders, whatever the product in them

After a while of ringing around ended up with BOC being the cheapest.
Picked up Argon today, not been out for a while, I'd have forgot what a traffic light was if I'd have stayed out the city for any longer
My first few tig welds without filler; (Very blurry apprently)
Then I got brave and added filler;
Not easy, however easier than I was expecting. Certaintly stuck the tungsten in the puddle a few times and added filler to the tungsten a few times
Got some actual proper tig gloves along with a few other things for the tig, more tungsten, new collets ect in the post.
Once I feel ive got mild steel down a bit better I'll move to aly or stainless, probably aly first, more useful. Might need to invest in a foot pedal first though

Fairly busy week lol
Got some time to practice the tig amongst chasing cows and fencing
First fillet welds -

They're a bit concave but its getting there. Main use will be on thin stuff, aly and cast repairs anyway.
Also got out to test those mower skids I made a few weeks back, work an absolute beauty
Not heavy mowing though, only a bit of pasture topping.
New toy arrived from ebay too - 1 15/16ths mt3, hellava drill. Also got a 30mm mt3 but didn't take any photos of that one apparently.
6mm pilot hole and fed at .005 i/r
Could've deffo upped the feed though, just taking it with caution on the first hole.
Quick job this afternoon, one of the eyes on the ball retainer on the link arms of the valtra has been broken for years, thought I'd spend a few minutes fixing it up.
Got it out and started with a section of scaffold tube, which I chopped a section out of
Bit of squishing in the vice and happering around made the right shape
Ground the galv off, rounded the sharp edges and welded it up with the TIG. Only ruined the tungsten once, pretty happy with that lol.

Bit of shiny spray and refit it,
Shame about the colour but it'll blend in in no time.
And this is the other side one thats still good. Looks close enough to the same for me.

And one more thing I did
Went to refit the tailgate on our dump trailer, weld some new pivots on after the last ones broke off a while back, and since its been off some plonkers bent the trailer so now the gate doesn't fit between the back end.
Tried pulling it with the telehandler but it wasn't having any of it at all.
Then wasted some time making this contraption to try and bend it, now I look at the photos i realise its a proper waste of time as its bent down the bottom not in the middle. Didn't work anyway, 8t jack ran out of oomph.
Ran out of daylight anyway. Will have to think of something to bend it back. Possibly I'll put the jack between the two and try that, have my doubts though. Any ideas welcome lol, want to avoid bending up stuff thats not already bent ideally.

What trailer have you got? I like this trailer, could do with a few more loadstrap hooks and a strap tray, thats just my use though. And I'm sure I'll add them at some point too

be careful using your 1-15/16ths drill ... that's been turned down from #4 mT ...#3MT only goes to 1-1/4" normally ... if it bites you may twist the shank off if your drill is man enough

Hopefully it'd just break the tang and taper would spin. Hopefully.

Is it because of where you're trying to lever it from? Would an acro prop between the two sides work better? Possibly with the jack between? Might just push your other side out though eh!

Load trailer up to weight it down and push with loadall rather than pull. If that fails gonna have to be hit with something big and heavy which is probs why its bent.

Yea we have the exact same trailer, yours looks a bit newer though.... ours is here 12 years now and it wasn't new then ether.
Great trailer in my opinion, nice and low which suits us cos we dont have huge tractors
the old man bought it along with a fiat tractor. The original owner used it to shift his EX60, we measured ours and it was to wide to go in but he bought it anyway. The only thing I would change is the tyres, they are too wide.... they tend to pull the muck in front of them rather than travel over it. I have had a few machines in it, haven't tried the Zx65 in it yet but I will soon. Its tight even with a 3 tonner in it.
The posts do tend to get a knock though. I have done it myself a few times.... there strong though.
If I was building a trailer I'd build it very similar, just a bit bigger and with a hydraulic tail door of some sort.

Acrow prop is a brilliant idea, you're right though don't want to push the other side out. Maybe could brace that side with the telehandler.
Good idea, I was thinking of loading it up and pulling so I didn't bend anything else or move the trailer around, push probably a good idea. Imagine someone knocked it with the digger while loading

Got ours to fit our JZ70 and its a pretty tight fit but its a handy setup.
One of the front posts to hold the tailgate at the front seems to have had a knock once too on ours.
The reason the tailgate is broken off is becuase we put a bit too much stone in it a few too many times a big stone comes down and hits the top of it, snaps the hinges off. Thats why I was trying to make some stronger hinges, then I found out the back is bent up.
Full of stone its a perfect match for our valtra n101 in the hills of Devon
