I’ve been offered this drill - it’s all working etc. Any thoughts on price? Also, anyone have any tips on the best way of it up/loading it?

Paid £600 for mine but it was half the size. They sell for up to £8000 to the right person as a refurbished machine.

Lifting wise. Single strop around the slide close to the pillar. Then use the drill head to. Balance the load.... A ratchet straps from the base around the slide and back the other side to stop it swinging when your lifting is essential too...

That will be around 2.5t

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
what You need is someone with a hiab🤔
very top heavy, seen someone unbolt it from the floor then swung the top part around (god only knows why) and it fell over snapping the traveling part clean off😳
worth £400 for scrap so that’s a starting price
got given this little one (and a few other things)as the building was being dropped

is there anything else that needs shifting🤔😉😉

It looks like there's a gantry crane there to pick it up with 😉 there might be a threaded hole on the top of the arm for lifting it or I'd do as @JD450A says

Couldn’t find any threaded holes up top - there are also slots in the base that I thought could take a nut to then screw lifting eye - 4 of them in and crane it up?
My thoughts are to load/unload with telehandlers but not sure if I’m being optimistic?!
I’ve also bid on a big, old Polish lathe (9 foot jobby). If it all comes off I’m going to need some lessons!

We've got a kitchen and walker going spare, it's got the DC injection brake and suds pump. I think it's 3'6" but can't remember if it's 4 or 5 Morse taper. Only problem is she's in good nick and not flogging her cheap 😶 😆

looks like a #5 morse that one ... I used to move my 6ft arm K&W about with my 7t Hyster FLT .... but could just manage it with the 4t Hyster .. just!! ... need to watch the column doesn't separate from the base ... some do ... only on a spigot .... I used to crane lift under base with slings criss crossed at the arm and head between the slings ... just have to fiddle a bit to find the balance point, but usually about a third out from the column ... criss crossing the slings keeps it stable and the arm and base in line .... they're an awkward lil bugger though

mine

criss cross --- but head and slings closer to column ... only pic I have

value wise @Monkeybusiness if you got it for a grand to 1500 quid, it'd be a decent buy ... looks to have spincheck/instabrake DC injection, which is a legal requirement ... if they can't demonstrate the DC brake functioning it's worth less bucks

they can make 3-5K+ in very clean condition...... that's not ;)
you want all the big drills you can blag in the deal ... a 2" drill is 200+ quid new ... 3.5" is 400 quid .. a 20mm drill is over 35 quid now
and that's closer to 3.5+ tonne

Monkey business,
If you do acquire this machine I have a fair pile of big morse taper drills.

I have picked them up over the years and have many duplicates which I would be happy to part with for way less that the ‘Kings Ransom’ prices some think they are worth.

My old man had one the size of druids
But older
The motor sat on the floor at the back of the post with a drive shaft up the middle of the post to a gearbox on top that powered the lift for the radial arm and sent a splined shaft down the outside to power the drill and the quill feed
I think it had war department stamps on it

yeh people think they are solid gold ..... only attractive to them that has summat to drive 'em ...... at sensible prices ;)
I binned a tipping skip full of #4 and #5 MT drills when I cleared my shop ... guy who bought me K&W was a dealer and had no interest in the drill bits :oops:o_O
had failed to sell them in the 18 months prior to my clear out effort ... and had a completion date driving my efforts !!!
