Is it me but I can’t play any of these tiktok things

it was basically a video of this model that someone had made showing “ Floating compression“...basically the bit of string in the middle is keeping everything held up.

Any one else cringe when they drilled the holes for the string with their finger on the other side of the wood from the drill bit?
Yep I watched and when he was doing that I winced a bit 😆

been a bit of a scrappy/bitty couple of days .... dropped this down over the trellis Thursday,

WP_20200507_14_26_32_Pro.jpg

and got a touch up coat where I'd not been able to get at it before ...
amazing what you can reach with the old fabricator's friend :)

WP_20200507_13_57_49_Pro.jpg

....... 'fore spending time massacring the grass yet again .... growing like ferk ATM ... amazing quantity off it, in the collector !!

WP_20200507_17_08_52_Pro.jpg

Pam has spent some time emptying a couple of spud boxes she wanted to use for composting grass cuttings, a while ago ... which's not been a huge success ... would've moved 'em closer to where it was getting relocated to ... 'cept the bottoms had long since disintegrated and lifting 'em was out o' the Q. .... she considered it good exercise :giggle:

re-organised the wood shed's kindling contents Thurday evening to make room for the basket's contents, the following day .. which gave me a bad night ... working with me arms above me head is never a good idea :( which i frequently ignore/conveniently forget :(... paid for it 'bout 3 a.m. though and that was the end of my night's kip ...
WP_20200508_04_56_15_Pro.jpg

big ol' moon, still well up, at dawn
once the tramadol cocktail had worn off a bit, this went down to the wood shed ..
WP_20200508_13_47_03_Pro.jpg

and i stuffed it
WP_20200508_17_35_33_Pro.jpg

reckon I might just get a smaller crate-full in and that'll be it (y)
picked this back out ..
WP_20200508_15_42_18_Pro.jpg

having left the old girl sat waiting for it
WP_20200508_13_37_07_Pro.jpg

and returned it to its 'home'

yesterday was a stunning day, here - 20C - and that bloody green stuff needed another hooking, later in the day ... same collector- full again off it ... growing like crazy !!

ran the genny up first though and lopped up a few 'bottles' that i couldn't do anything with ... other than turning 'em into some more flower pots for Pam and a bit of 'tube stock'
WP_20200509_16_17_41_Pro.jpg

WP_20200509_16_17_47_Pro.jpg

few miscellaneous bits, to create with ....
WP_20200509_16_17_33_Pro.jpg

and they'll end up summat along these lines
WP_20200509_17_18_39_Pro.jpg

had to change the blade for a new one, as the first cut ran out badly ..... still deciding how to rectify that issue ...
have a few ideas ;)
usually put a solid disc for the base, on previous ones, but now't to hand ... so'll have to improvise on these :sneaky:
for them who's not seen the inside of an extrusion spun cylinder ......
WP_20200509_16_49_56_Pro.jpg

WP_20200509_16_50_06_Pro.jpg

and yes that's 8+mm thick .... made from one solid billet of steel ...... an impressive procedure ... bound to be on youtube somewhere ;)

last night's massacre :giggle::giggle::rolleyes:

As you know we do work for air products. We sometimes use old cylinders for posts. The test place is at stoke. AP have 1000s of old cylinders needing homes.

I cut the tops off these 2

make lovely bells Dylan .... want a hell of a rack for a full octave though, with all the flats and sharps as well :LOL:o_O tuning them could take a while

AP bottle tops are a better shape than 'the other's' tops for plant pots ;):giggle:

WP_20200511_17_58_50_Pro.jpg

also dealt with the 'run out' cut ..
WP_20200511_16_22_42_Pro.jpg

5" thin disc works wonders and nicely controllable ...... amazing what a loss of 'set' on a blade, will do to a cut :mad:

was only going to get that lil' plasma out to cut 4 circles !!! and got caught in the act :(
hell it's been cold out of the sun, here again today ... forecast to be the same all week ... cold but dry

we got a treat today ..... for an hour anyway ...

WP_20200512_12_40_01_Pro.jpg

Clara and Vicki came to lunch ..... sort of
WP_20200512_13_23_12_Pro.jpg

usually just drop the shopping, quick natter and ................ gone ! ... for a 4+ year old she is very understanding of the need to distance, fair play to her . So that made our day, seeing her for an hour. :giggle::giggle: We so used to take this simple stuff for granted :(

Pam has been mithering me to run a sili bead down the edge of the utility pitch roof, to stop the water dripping off it when it rains and blows, so sili found, ladder up and crack on.... I'm only up about 6 rungs initially and she just stood and watched ... usually insists on holding/footing the ladders if I'm up one, but said "you could jump from there" and left me to it
moved up the pitch a bit with the ladders and didn't realise that now I was up a bit further the ladder guardian had assumed position .......... until I trod on her hand, coming down  thought to myself, "WTF am I standing" on, then heard the wailing noise, as I turned to look ...... luckily for her my boot soles are quite soft and I got off pretty quick ....... pointing out that it was a silly place to hold a ladder, on the rungs, didn't go down too well :ROFLMAO: ... she won't do it again, in a hurry !!

then it was my turn to do summat stupid .. been a day for hands ... having thought I'd emptied the sili tube, I'd stowed the ladders and was about to sling said tube when I realised the plunger cap was a good 2" from the top ???

took the nozzle off and was having a poke at it with my favourite fine screwdriver .. gave it a tap, with my hand, expecting it to move, instead it came out the side of the tube ......
WP_20200512_15_14_41_Pro.jpg

right where my ****ing hand was holding the tube :oops::cry: let's say it hurt ... a lot ... was very lucky it didn't completely exit me hand
WP_20200512_15_14_56_Pro.jpg

out the side ... but must've been bloody close ... what you see poking out the tube, buried itself in my palm ..
WP_20200512_15_14_46_Pro.jpg

Dunno which was worse ... pushing the damned thing in there .. or pulling it back out 😣😖😬
suffice to say it's bloody sore tonight and swelling quietly ....... what a p*i*k, thought I ..... should've seen that one coming :(
Haven't done anything that dull in quite a while :mad:

On the plus side, the silicon may stop the bleeding :D
was my thoughts too :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ...
if I let an injury bleed, it'll bleed like hell (part of me gaucher's apparently) .....
if I can stop it with pressure immediately it's usually fine .... this got a LOT of pressure ..... IMMEDIATELY!!
didn't fancy the prospect of a trip to A&E ... not quite knowing the extent, 'til I'd washed it off and had a better gander !!

Pam said I should've left it stuck in there so she could've pulled it out :oops: ... make a change from her sticking sharp objects in me arm I suppose
