Ryan can be seen with his sledge ready for more hard labour :ROFLMAO:

IMG_9875.jpeg
Amazing how my little mini gets it put down ready for blinding off ;)

IMG_1462.jpeg
Photo of the day - introduced Ryan to the joys of a Wacker.
He did well and was not put off by anything I threw at him :p

So guys thanks for all your encouragement in getting my grandson Ryan learning our craft.
While this lockdown is on, before 6th Form and Uni, he'll be picking up some great skills :giggle:

FYI Any dumper driver that puts seat belt on first is worth there weight... f**k the Green Beacons but the seatbelt is a must on those hideous things.
Couldn't agree more Rory - with young lads you tell them once and they do it all the time :giggle:
There was a death of a dumper driver a few miles from here a few years ago πŸ˜₯
Ryan took the piss out of me yesterday when I dropped a lump of 6x2 on my foot wearing trainers - WTF
I always insist that he wears boots or safety trainers and he told me, "You should have been wearing your PPE trainers like me!"
Think I might fit that green beacon to piss you off :ROFLMAO:

Still keeping busy over the past week doing 'catch up stuff' during the lockdown with grandson, Ryan, my new 'apprentice :giggle:
IMG_1472.jpeg
Ripping timber
IMG_1477.jpeg
Nailing timber to make a trellis for SWMBO πŸ˜‡
IMG_1479.jpeg
Nice green wood preserver going on
IMG_1485.jpeg
Drying in the sun
IMG_1493.jpeg
Showing Ryan how to use the spoons :p
IMG_1495.jpeg
He soon got the hang of it, but I had to get serious with some fcuking tree roots 😜
IMG_1494.jpeg
Showed him how to knock some up in a barra, set them upright with a level :geek:
IMG_1498.jpeg
Job done - SWMBO is very pleased and will be planting the Winter Jasmine soon πŸ˜‡

can't get it here for love nor money .... our trellis is in need of at least 5 tubs and also need a couple of tubs of the rich oak too for gates and fencing ...... we've exhausted our quite decent stock levels :(:(

nice to see a youngster keen on doing something useful ,can someone explain swmbo to me i cant work it out:rolleyes:
Yep he's with us during the lockdown. We saw the lockdown coming and rescued him from my daughter's household where they have 5 children
He is useful in as much that he only needs to be shown/told once and soaks it up like a sponge :giggle:
SWMBO is as above - sometimes I call her the "War Office' or can often be seen flying round the garden on her broom :ROFLMAO:

Here we are last week enjoying T@3 (with cake)
She is worth her weight in gold for the support to all of us during this Covid-19 Pandemic crisis. πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ’‹β€πŸ‘¨
We have been married since 1976 - another long hot summer 🌞

Nope Graham - we used some good old spirit based stuff. Had 4 x tins in stock bought a few years ago from a neighbour as a left over job lot 😎

this stuff from Wicks πŸ˜‰
Like you we live out in the sticks so it pays to have things on stock. Have even got 5 x bags of cement in stock πŸ˜‚

Hmm .... will have a look on their website ... that Cuprinol is water based ....... and washes off if it gets rained on before totally dry  ...... only trouble is Pam gets it all over her doing it .... so will be a thinners wash down

I've usually a few bags of cement and half a dumpy of sand about me ... but seems to have evaporated, with Pam grouting slabs on the patio ... and not gotten around to a re-stock .... in time :(

Just read this this thread from the beginning and really enjoyed it. Thanks routy56!
Thanks Keif for your feedback (y)
Like most members on this forum, we do it because we have an interest in machines and stuff
I also feel that if we can 'give a little back' by sharing information then others will feel good about helping when you need it.
Over the years (including the forum from the Dark Side) have had some great advice.
Examples have included, buying my new pickup truck, converting buckets to fit a quick hitch and buying cheap red diesel :ROFLMAO:
Retired in 2009 (first time) at 53yrs old with a very nice police pension after 30 years service.
The next day I was self employed with my mini digger and boys toys - it pays well and I aim to do 2-3 days per week on average ;)
IMG_9460.jpeg

Now semi-retired and will be 64 on the 9th of this month.
So that's me 11 years in to this game, although I have done stuff like it since I was 14 :ROFLMAO:
Maybe I do a more comprehensive write up on my personal history with interesting old photos and stuff........
.........I often said that I could write a book(s) on my experiences :giggle:

The last few days have seen me and Ryan dodging the rain and getting some nice doors fitted to our 'new' kitchen πŸ˜‡
The mini has had to live outside under the rain cover while we used the barn as a workspace
IMG_1515.jpeg
Shaker style Oak - hard to cutter and plane down. Each one had to be done.
This meant that my tools had to be razor sharp - good old oilstone :geek:
IMG_1517.jpeg
Showed Ryan how to fit hinges correctly. He just cracked on with it.
Pilot holes done he is seen here putting the screws in with the Makita set on about screw torque no. 12

IMG_1519.jpeg
Installed in dining room frame and given a Danish Oil treatment by Ryan.
Note the lockdown stubble coming along nicely (I had even shaved a few days ago) :ROFLMAO:

IMG_1520.jpeg
Even the pantry got a new door. SWMBO is well pleased with the outcome πŸ˜‡
Note the new designer radiator and Smeg range style cooker.
It has an LPG gas hob because we do not have mains gas out here.
Double electric oven, the small one will power up on the Genny when we have a power cut
The radiator reminds me that I had to do all the plumbing and kitchen fitting work.
Local trades failed to get back to me and I don't ask 'em twice 😠
However, on a positive note the new oil Grant boiler is superb.
The plumber who installed and commissioned it was first class 😊
Next week we get the first batch of discounted kero which is going into the old steel tank which was recommissioned yesterday......
