so ... take two ... new pix quota

was gonna put a third socket on the front end ....... but damned if I could find one in me stores ... so some new ones ordered ... they've trebled in price since the last time i bought those two I put on the back .. was a while ago though ... used to keep them in work .. got through a lot

so cleaned the bed off ...... and took it down the galvanizers .. LOL ... it got a coat of Firwoods Ali primer ...

impressed the corner posts came out ......... without too much of a struggle

's good stuff ... I'll give it a second coat tomorrow evening .. give it 24 hrs to go off properly, but dries in about 20 minutes
will last for ages then ...... makes a damned fine top coat

Oh I would ...... and yeh .. another good reason for NOT owning one ..... lovely chariot and an awesome motor that TDV8 ... but you'd want a tame LR fitter on the shelf with his own Rovercom ... and mine retired

Two timing belts as well i think one on either end of the engine. The one on the back rarely gets changed because it's body off chassis job to get to it.

just taken me best part of the evening - beside tea making breaks for SWMBO - to catch up on 158 new posts you lot've been busy .... or not, if you see what I mean .... didn't have that much to catch up on, after six days off line, in a hospital ward, in Feb.

last couple of evenings, after tea, when I've gone back out, to finish off whatever tea had interupted, there's been a little Wren daring about the bags of stone, by me benches ... thought she'd nested in one .... but discovered where she's taken up residence this morning .....

she's back in me wheel chock on the 'Drema again .... discovered her there last year and didn't clear it out 'til early this year .... industrious lil' bugger ... she's filled the chock again, from completely empty doesn't seem bothered by me runnning it now and again

been intending (putting it off) removing these bits of Ollie's breaker rack off the sideboard for a while ...

and damn did they take some getting off this morning

had to resort to the 9" with a thin disc for a lot of it

and the 36" Stillies ...

which left me with a lot of grinding

followed by another 9" session for the rest of the bits ... would've liked to have removed 'em completely, to give me a flat head board, but just not poss. with a disc

Startrite Meba coffee table got a bit of use again today ...

and the bed got another coat of Firwood's best ali .......

they must've changed the solvent in this, as it killed me Tiger roller's adhesive ... have used them for years on their paints and never had an issue with the roller coming apart .... couldn't put me hands on another one, but did find some foam ones .... lasted about 10 minutes before the solvents ate it, so had to hunt out me box of Tigers ..... fresh one stuck the pace fine

They were always described on the invoice as 'Tiger rollers' .... IIRC it's what was on the box too -- were orange with a black stripe ... will have a look later

Don't know where the foam ones came from ... can't recall, but about as much use as "*its on a boar" ... ten minutes saw 'em off

I did a bit of rollering this morning myself. which got me thinking about what you were describing were possibly better? I only use the foam ones, but have found some that stick the pace for a fair while, but not for big jobs. To be honest I think it’s easier to spray bigger jobs and more intricate stuff, but the roller is quick, and very little clean up of equipment after, so it’s always a good choice.
It was the only choice this morning as I used up some old paint that was full of lumps! Was an ideal job for it though, only undercarriage guarding that will get most of it knocked off again, but wouldn’t feel right not painting them....

as you say ... roller is so quick ... I keep them in water jars .. various colours ... pull out what you want, give it a good shake, quick roll under the bench top and good to go ....... and give an excellent finish with a much thicker coat than the spray ... and zero clean up

going back to an issue we discussed a while back .... internet had slowed to a dismal crawl these last few days ..... New ADSL filter in this morning and what a difference ... up come the pages bang........ bang ...... 's not 20mb/s but lot better than dial up .... would love to know what keeps killing the damned things

yeh .... it goes off pretty regularly .... went off for a second this morning.. enough to have to reset all the timers/clocks ... and have to reboot old faithful ****ing annoying TBH

Definitely a good idea, all commercial installs fitted with them. It will kill your router in the long run if not.

don't quite know what happened to the day today .... just vanished grass massacring took up a few hours, followed by a clean off and re-coat for the mower ramps down onto the lawn .....

been meaning to do 'em for a while .... they had two coats of Firwood's ali primer when I made them ... in 2010, so it hasn't done bad really .... if today's coat lasts another ten years i doubt I'll be painting 'em next time ...... certainly doubt I'll be lifting 'em onto the bench

has got a bit of yellow paint on it but is pretty nigh on what they look like, 'cept the stripe's a bit blacker .... have used them for decades and generally hang together very well .... have painted hundreds of tonnes of beams and all sorts, with them and usually wore them out, before they fell to bits.
finding rollers that are solvent resistant is quite difficult usually, so I stuck with Wurth's over the years and always quick deliveries.

then after the ramps, spent some time getting round this ...

that blue is a bitch to cover... even with the HBZP oxide

did this yesterday evening after tea ..... white next

oh I see, so they are not a smooth roller then? More like an emulsion roller? How do you find the finish? I can’t help thinking it wouldn’t be that smooth, but maybe I’m wrong?
and you keep these alive in jars for next time?

That’ll be down to the original red and white Gra??....how did you get the yellow and blue off but able to keep the red on??
