I'm glad that it's not only me that does productive stuff like this :giggle:
With no work a few days ago I reorganised my baggies which included some nice spilt oak.
Yesterday got Ryan, 16yr old my grandson (who is living with us UFN) to stack it neatly in the log store.
Just a few more baggies to go and tons more to fell cut up and split with the vertical hydraulic jobbie :p
Great to see your yard and machine at work on your blog :giggle:

So the in thing at the moment being levels idig guidance etc thought I'd show something i use a lot and don't know why manufacturers don't fit it.

Maybe others have the same idea but my old fella was old school op and the one thing he always instilled into me with any machine was that a lot of you're feel is through you're arse. Not only that but even with tiltys idig etc there's still no substitute for sitting a digger in the right place. If you want to dig flat and level sit ur machine level. If you're not on a huge area its surprising how near to right i can bulk a level flat area without even getting laser out the box. Takeuchi used to have a flat spot along bottom of front window you could sit a 600mm level on that aligned perfect with grading bucket for level. Unfortunately newer taks don't but above works the window works ok.

Yep first saw it used by someone on a 3c years ago - never done it myself but agree that getting your machine sat level helps a lot (y)

Great idea - been using a 'brick level' taped to the waist high bar of my cab for about 5 years or so now
This is usually at eye level when you put yer bucket in the dirt.....
Keeping the machine level is the main thing when your doing anything other than roughing out :ROFLMAO:

One from a while back old bungalow was demolished by someone else (was mainly wood and left a complete tip behind) levels were to build up a bit and some rubble to lose on site. Rubble was lost under where patio was to go then 100 ton subbase in to raise level up to near enough floor height. Lot easier grading a rolling that quantity with 7.5 tonner and bomag 120 than doing it when walls are in way. Then dig through for founds. Always like to hardcore sites as soon as possible we don't have lakes up here for no reason.

Then back at dpc to fill round. Also got all services and drains sorted at this point which is rare but due to the fact there had been a bungalow here before they were all on site so were redirected and connected.

Do you bother trying to save the stone ontop of the trench?

Yeah do try to if it's a few inch thick it's easy enough and even if you can't keep it clean you can always lose it in there deeper bits when you backfill. End of the day the time saved out weighs lost stone.

got one down beside me seat in the 'Drema on a nice solid lump which is perfectly aligned with me slew ring (y)... get yerself level in all directions and where-ever you spin round to, yer's level :giggle: ...... used to drop one on the top of the kingpost swivel on the jake ... all very well being level cross chassis, but also need to be level fore to aft or when you come off centre, you're all to cock ;)

had them fitted to me cranes ... need to be 'proper level' with 100 odd feet of stick in the air
