They say things come in threes.

Digger rotator started pissing out oil. It seeped a bit a week ago then stopped. Now it’s a lot worse. Will have to go back to Europe for repair, luckily Hywel Evans has a secondhand one the same so I’ll buy that and another headstock to fit to my spare tg16 and have a backup grab and rotator combo to cover me whilst it’s repaired. For the rest of this job I’ll have to be gentle with the grab and rotator from the e19.

Then the multione lost all electric functions on the joystick. Can’t be anything serious, i called Multione technical and apparently rh little fuse board serves all the joystick functions so it’s got to be an issue with power that that or the earth from the joystick surely? I’ll have a look tomorrow morning but will take skid steer along anyway as needed for some levelling work in the field.

Both Hywel and Multione answered to phone to me despite being busy at the APF so top marks to both there.

And then thirdly, despite calling the company and advising of the diversion due to two road closures, and waiting whilst the girl in the office checked it out on google maps, the prick of a driver refused to go down the lane and so no stone until Friday. So my customer will have to pay a days hire on the roller.

Finished of trimming a hedge. I’m not a fan of using a digger for hedge cutting but this was an ideal candidate. Ditch in front of it, and needed a good chamfer back into shape. Plus its blackthorn, and I don’t touch that unless I’m in a cab.

Oh, not all bad. His neighbour (who I met doing the track down the other day) had me look at a track for him and wants me to do three days with the 9 tonner pulling some willow stumps and rushes out of his currently dry pond and scooping it a bit deeper. We are going to use the willow stumps and then dirt on top to make some islands in it, so the 9 tonner with grab and tilt bucket will be ideal.

Forgot to mention, int he interest of client relations (she wouldn’t stop fretting about hedge hogs etc) I called in a telehandler from across the road to shift the pile before I lit it

went back to the quarry and got some more lumps to finish the scour protection, waiting on some mot stone to tidy bridge up and tidy up and out of here end of the week. should really go get 3 ton dumper but its 30 miles away so will run 16 ton mot in at 3 ton a go on tipper trailer

What rotator are you using with your grab?

It’s a cpr5. So quite a bit more money than the usual gr55. Only done around 600 hours (two years) so I’m a bit miffed, particularly as the gr55 did six years and no issues.

It’s a much better rotator to use though, until this breakdown id always said it was well worth the extra money. It’s got a lot more torque and the build is lower.

went to a friends 60th many years ago ... had a massive pile of tish for a bonfire and fireworks .. had been sat a while ... lit it all round the base and to everyone's horror, dozens of burning bunnies started appearing in every direction not to mention those that died screaming, unable to exit

A cushion will suffice for a rudimentary seat the other side if required, the seatbelt still works.

Did the ram reseal in situ go to plan

Yes all went well just need to repaint the ram end from heating it to undo it
