I think the ice houses were quite deep and sealed up to keep cool.

Usually concrete. At least all the ww2 stuff I have seen devon/Cornwall and islands is concrete. The German structures on Alderney were something else.

Agreed that's prewar imo. Looks more like a culvert to me apart from the interior looks solid. What the pipe in middle of back wall? Weird

Quite a few brick ones in this area. We have a lot more clay than we do aggregate. But even then it's usually a concrete roof and flat.

Up in the moors attempting to fix this bridge, getting access to it has been half the job, big 4” pump is awesome. Everything is fetch in on trailer as no access for anything big, few mile long track in from ranger base.

Bridge is on an old reservoir and the level is at reservoir level so had to dam it both sides culvert it with 300 twinwall and pump it to work under bridge. Then it’s waders and on knees as no room under there

It’s a 120, anything less is a waste of time for anything more than a patio.

Honest review on the Bomag? Do they cope with the smaller engine output okay?

Hopefully correctly lol but has taken a few days longer to dam it than I thought but hopefully repair goes quicker

Helps having all the kit in house and a head for problem solving

Approx £18k for this bridge with £4k of that being temp dam and bypass but had all twin wall and new bulk bags in yard from other river projects

I was only filling holes on the existing surface.

I have a 4 in 1 but it’s a high back so no use for grading.

What has caused it to fail - massive flow, overloading, or a bit of both?

Got the grab onto the T450 and cut the blade bolts off- lets see how she does stripping bracken litter. In theory is the perfect thing.

Checked the oil levels and topped up the hydraulic. I'm always amazed at how tiny the tank is on this- I guess it's not like a digger where rams can be in all kinds of positions requiring a wide range of levels. And the cooling pack is chunky with a hydraulic fan. But still- only around ten litres plastic tank on a 65hp entirely hydraulic machine!

I'd guess looking at that the foundation stones have either sunk/undermined and as soon as that happend the locking effect of the keystone arrangement above failed. Not an easy repair for sure.

Seems like your getting plenty of use out of the T450
