Tipping trailer for wheeled excavator?

I'm still interested in this trailer argument . I'm seeing more and more ducks towing trailers locally. I've also read somewhere it is legal if you are carrying out road repairs. Anyone heard any further news other than from jcb ?

Like everything from hauling plant with a tractor to using a knackered P reg pole lorry on agri (subcontracting to southern electric!!)- it’s all legal till you get caught.


A year later just had that same ‘agri’ registered artic on scrubbed out tractor tread tyres in the yard again, delivering pheasant feed. All the way to Sussex from Dorset.

nothing's changed as far as I'm aware Vin ... roadworks and associated materials only - no equipment

Your up in the Highlands ...and run smart kit .
The chances of local.plod stopping you in a tidy duck with tidy matching trailer is close to nill surely. Even if they did what's the penalty? You don't run an ops license so no worries there
My guess be "don't run it on the road again"?
If I had a duck round here I know what I'd be doing. Compared to what else goes on the back roads it's safe as houses .
They're more bothered if it's strapped and netted.

I'm.no advocate for taking the piss but this is different in my book ..your not exactly running bent are you.

Possibly a trailer or a blade box . It’s not home yet , it’s getting singwriiten at the dealers first then it’ll be up the road

I did consider a trailer, but was concerned about the size/weight about towing it, I`ve got a couple of agri tipping trailers but they look a bit big, parked behind it.
I`ve got a tipping trailer chassis and though about making a body to suit, or even a s/h tracked dumper body on it.
I missed a blade tray at a local dealer, with the right headstock on it as well I think it was £480

The way I see it is, your not going to be hauling 10 ton of type 1 out of the local quarry with a 6 ton duck, so technically anything your going to be doing is maintenance related or towing your own attachments.

I don’t think they could get a law changed for their own machines only !
