Loncin or lifan?

Ive got a wornout little 50cc engine on my mixer. There is a conversion kit from the 50cc honda to a 120 honda so it must be known that the 50cc is not up to it. If i went up to a 200 i could get electric start for an extra 5 kg and lifan do one with the same shaft size. As hondas are now made in china i thought i might try a loncin or lifan.
Are they as good as each other?
Up until now i had been using my drill to start it (its too worn out to use the pull cord) but the drill dosent like it because its got an auto brake when you release the trigger.

I bought one, but yet to try it, so I can't exactly recommend it, but it looks like a good idea.

I've also seen wind up spring starters for these engines too ... the crank also looks better than the damned recoil pull cord starts

no idea on the Lifans, but seem to get reasonable reports on you tube
I have a 2" pump with a Loncin Hodna copy and it's as good as any Hodna I've had .. starts first pull every time and runs sweet as a nut

I agree. I’ve got a Loncin on a mixer and it’s been faultless

Given how most of us carry a combi and impact wrench in the vans these days, a cordless adaptor for starting with a power tool would be great idea.

The drill does start it but you would need a ratchet as my drill has an auto brake when you release the trigger, as the engine starts it fights against that. The second problem is the nut comes off the flywheel.

Funny - this came up in another forum a few days ago.
Kubota (plus clones) make a huge number of engines in the 10 to 30HP range (filthy beasts, but probably no worse than a Lister). So there are lots of 'ghetto starters' on the market.

could do with one of them for my Thwaites Alligator ..... trouble is it starts anticlockwise - think about it - totally cack handed - takes some swinging the wrong way

it's possible i suppose as long as it doesn't have any circuitry on board?
I must make myself an adaptor so's I can use my 1" air gun on it .. may not sound much but the anti clock swing is not easy and throwing the de-comps simultaneously is a contortionist job
