do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
I get what you are saying, but I think you misunderstand my first line. No matter how deserving someone is to be removed from the gene pool, the courts don't encourage the process.

That said, safety systems should never be a crutch for a poor operating behaviour - eg. "I don't need to look behind me because I have a reversing alarm - every one will get out of the way when they hear the alarm - right?"
er not if they don't hear it --- I have a photo in my archives that'd support this ... don't think the forum's quite the right place for it though :oops::cry::cry:
PM for a copy if anyone's 'interested'

Likewise big companies shouldn't use it as a crutch in that "we fitted an alarm so cannot be held responsible for letting an inexperienced operator hurt someone as they where cheaper"

I still think this kit is a bandaid on am amputated leg, and maybe we should sort out the long list of problems with training and education in the UK construction industry rather than profit from them.

And for what it's worth I have driven a lorry fitted with a brigade system through London and it was as much use as tits on a fish.
Very interesting feedback. I'll make sure we steer clear of them on our next install . Thanks for the heads up.

To be fair it probably isn't brigade in particular. But fitting proximity sensors to the left hand side of a lorry wired into the left hand indicator, is absolutely pointless when there is always something there. It simply beeped constantly every time you indicated. Therefore added no benefit. It couldn't discern between a sign post, a pedestrian guard rail, a building, a car in the next lane and the cyclist it is meant to warm you about. So it offered no benefit.
plus it comes back round to the point of you can fit all the alarms to lorries you like. You can make everyone drive a bin lorry. And send all the lorry drivers out on a bicycle once a year. But if the cyclists want to wizz down the side of a lorry as it's turning, nothing is going to help
