Some avant action this morning. Took longer to get there than do the job . 15x 1t bags moved round this morning...bag lifter is deffo better than using forks.

I guess one of the main benefits is that you only have to get out of the cab once to hook the loops on. It's always a bit iffy to get two loops on each fork at once, or even worse if there are no loops at all. Nevertheless there is little to beat the Avant.

It's even better than that, I had an assistant to hook them on.

I was more meaning it's better than the forks because of it keeping the loader arm lower and tucking the bag into the machine, it makes it alot nicer when negotiating the terrain

Been a while since I had the trencher out. Finished off one of those jobs where you seem to have every attachment on it.

Then it was on the road..

Find the JCB I’d forgotten about (57 days since I used it last according to the tracker on the key)

And get the skid steer into the job I actually bought it for. It’s ideal on the banks.

I am no longer an operator- just a mere seat filler. 🫣

Why? I have taken the time to google how to use the float setting on the T450. It’s bliss with the clamshell bucket. A monkey could fill it. Easy to backblade on the way back up the hill also. I was worried 6’ would be too much but it’s perfect for this application. I still prefer the normal bucket for aggregate etc though- can see the cutting edge and it’s much easier to control. The spill guard on the clamshell is handy in this application though.

I’ve put the door back on (too dusty yesterday!) turned on the air con and started to use the seat belt to give my calves a rest from stopping me going through the windscreen down the hill. Even adjusted the joystick position. It’s a brilliant place to spend a shift. So efficient. More people should try these machines.
