Pissing about with only half a clue on the shed site.

Waved goodbye to this one today. Shouldn’t have bought it in the first place but it’s all a learning experience :)
Yep - absolute rubbish on rough. My friend has one and on his various building projects, can only use it on finished floor slabs etc. So most of the time it just sits there with flat batteries :p

Managed to wangle my last job of the day over near the old homestead. Got about 3 hours in on the little end of the shed. Put the homemade grading beam on the borrowed Kubota and scratched the ground about best I could then fired up the monster whacker for a session. Despite my superior grade ear defenders it’s still ringing about 3 hours later. Turns out using the world’s largest pedestrian whacker plate under a tin roof is rather loud 😳.
There is 19t of good scalpings sat ready for me to cover it with when I get a chance.
Love those diesel Wackers - the dogs nuts . My ground working mate insists on hiring one. And 'cos it's heavy have to sling it with the big red hook into place etc. But he has a weak shoulder and I have to start it for him :ROFLMAO:

The newer ones have easy start which is a lot easier

Got a bit of time at it . Moved the scalpings in with the 4in1 bucket on Dads Tafe on Sunday. I wanted to get the wacker over it but out of consideration for the neighbours on a Sunday I abstained. Scratched it about with the homemade grading beam on the Kubota . Back today to run the big wacker over it , and the trench rammer around the edge . Scuffed out the high spots with Kubota and then wacked again. Still not flat but hopefully it will provide a cleaner surface than the clay. Will ruin it at the weekend and fill it back up with fodder and kit.

Loaded the dumper trailer. Carried out an emergency chicken s**t weld repair on the anti tip bar at the back, then dropped it at its new home. I have had it 2.5 years, used it a bit and actually made a small profit!
Not sure what’s going to replace it yet :)

Have sold the pair of cabins I got last year . Had council enforcement sniffing around recently about my storage containers 😡 so decided the less stuff lying around the better. Loaded one earlier with Jack and forklift . Not too bad . Needed to take steels out of side of shed to get it out . Bolts for shed are M12 with 18mm nuts. Is that normal?

My shed is all M16 (24mm spanner) holding the steel together. The z-purlins might have been smaller but I think everything was the same (will check over the weekend).
I don’t remember ever using an 18mm spanner on anything in the world ever?! 🤣

18mm is common enough, some hydraulic fittings are 18mm too.

Alot of Volvo machines Have/had odd sized nuts and bolts. For instance an M8 might be 12mm head on the bolt with 13mm nut, or M12 18mm head and 19mm nut.
When i worked at the dealers I asked a Swedish guy from Volvo why this was once, he just smiled and said "so that Paddy only needs to buy one set of spanners" 😁🤣

Fair enough I thought 😁

Got the second one loaded up , which made a nice big empty space, then starting moving kit into the small end for a tidy up . Removed the reverse beeper from the moffett a couple weeks ago as apparently it was annoying the neighbours. Nice and stealthy now :)

Cladding coming Tuesday :)

How close are your neighbours FFS? I can sometimes hear at least 3 different farms mucking out at crazy times but never given it a second thought. It's part of life . What is wrong with people.

Was thinking the same, would rather someone get flattened than hear a distant beap!
Plug the bugger back in!

I think the shed was nicely amplifying the beep, and it’s a VERY loud beep. Tractor didn’t have a beep and neither does my digger or dumper so I’m not too worried . I’m safer going backwards with the Moffet than I am forwards anyway as I’m hanging over the back . It’s the offside front that’s the danger area imho.

Today I had 3 Lorry’s arrive . First one came at 8am, he left kingspan in north wales at 1.30am.

The pile of kit is pretty much most of my house remortgage sat there in one pile (bar the concrete panels).
Cheap way to borrow money, but it still hurts!
Site is much tidier without 2 portacabins in the way .
