Aldi, lidl, B&Q style hardware etc. have been selling these in Germany for several years - and the world hasn't ended.
sorry @Gecko v8 didn't say any of that .... I was quoting the article and I totally agree - should be as easy as "plug and play" anything else :rolleyes: - the installers can see their gravy train vanishing before their eyes

I've already been figuring out how much I can get on my garage roof ...25year guarantee ..Aldi middle aisle is gonna have to be extended 🤣
And oh can't be used in a power cut ..we'll see about that 😈

installers across the country'll be weeping in their cornflakes ... if the costs are sensible and do come with good, long guarantees, Aldi/Lidl will not be able to keep up with demand :ROFLMAO:

If the grid supply isn't detected, they shut down or they'd try to power the whole neighborhood and light up the linesman (or woman - call me Loretta) sent out to fix your problem.

If you have a decent area to cover with panels, this is not the cheapest way to do it.

Yes a home grown system has been in the cards for a bit and have good relationship with local wholesaler....I just like the fact it's going to rough up the snake oil industry.

An interesting development is Oz, as visitors will confirm, the midday sun is quite potent, so the solar generation in the mid-part of the day can play merry-hell with the grid voltage.
The new solution is that retail consumers will have three hours of free elec in the middle of the day.
It rather changes the economics of a "solar battery" if you can fill it for free and run the house for the rest of the day.

would certainly improve the cost V. return economics of a battery array for sure, pulling max out the grid, on your three free hours, to fill a battery bank :cool::cool::love::love:

This is perhaps the best and most pragmatic review of the type of installation and how UK regs presently resist it.

The biggest stumbling block is not the regulation, but return on investment. This needs to be installed with battery storage and "load shifting" of consumption to make it viable. These proposed installs will be a max of 4 panels and 800w returning to grid.
Nothing to stop you plugging 2 or 3 systems into the home circuits, but no matter how you look at it, solar's only available when the sun shines, in practice its going to be years for payback of the investment.

using this argument one could say that could apply equally well to a hair dryer, microwave, kettle, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, computer/lap top power source, phone charger, iron, TV, etc., etc., etc. ..... meaning all appliances should be hard wired (by a competent 'person') otherwise what is the point of any 'plug and play' item/equipment if the end user can't do just that :mad: :mad: :mad: ..... running VERY scared

Reading the included info, you can have up to 800W of plug in solar before you need a permit, but it must be registered.
Somewhat cheaper than here ATM ;

Ive always heard things about Americans having unhealthy diets but this bloke keeps popping up and honestly I am shocked about every aspect of what seems to be pretty standard American recipes. Everything comes out of a jar or packet. Everything seems to be disposable trays and plates. And everything just seems to have so many calories.
