I've had the same down here with the Peatland parnership. They were at one stage going to buy the base machines themselves and get contractors to operate them. Have to attend training courses etc too. In the end although it's quite nice work to be on during the winter months the commitment to it over the next 5 years would mean not being able to fulfill existing customer base.

The moorland work is cash rich but only for a period.... Not my thing and it will fall down sooner or later imho and seems to be more fiddles than in the American south from what I've heard. Ahem

Got her back to the yard and flipped the ram.
Pipes will be fine which is nice. In the ‘blade straight’ position the clearance is around 12mm. Photo is of ram closed position.
I think I’ll get the tracks fitted and then decide how much to cut off them.

600mm steels on, rams flipped, and Big Aidy also got his portapack and hollow ram
out and fitted me my dipper bush. Top man.
I've taken 20mm off this side and clearance seems good. Got to do the same the other.
