But if people can make a reason then everyone would be doing it. Mine is genuinely for towing diggers and getting me and tools to place of work. Seems unfair that for genuine use it's no longer allowed
I think HMRC would say in that case use a single cab pick up. BIK does not apply to them.

I appreciate a double cab has back seat space which is secure for valuables and delicate stuff but HMRC probably won’t consider that a valid argument for having a double cab.

The only hope is that Nigel undoes all this when he gets his feet under the big table at No10. 😀😀😀

Then sadly HMRC will say you need a single cab pickup. Or if it's sole business use then a good example of how you get about otherwise . If your business isn't registered to your home? And a business address if you take it home That's private use

Isuzu do double cabs now without back seats registered as a 2 seater and with the back decked out for tool storage
Not sure if it was an official option for the ranger in another European country but when the latest shape came out there was a double cab with just a storage bay in the back rather than the seats, I'm sure I seen it in a raptor but can't find any information on it now so might not have been an official ford thing and aftermarket

After a fairly decent search turns out it's an aftermarket conversion in the Netherlands to make vehicles qualify for a "grey license" or as a commercial vehicle not just for pickups they will also do q7, X5, Sorrento, range rover, etc for some reason they offer the conversions for Defender and discovery

Single cab. Yeah great so are we expected to travel like the Taliban now and take staff to work in the pickup bed.
My mates dad had a vw transporter flat bed.
We used to sit down in the back in the summer once we were on the M4, before it got windy we'd hold on to the ladder bar imagine now 🤣🤣
It was yellow until we thought we'd do him a favour and paint it in black underseal as it was getting rusty.
He loved it until it started getting warmer during the summer 🤣🤣 if you've ever been in 1 you slid off the wheel arches to get out, during the summer you'd stick 🤣🤣

Sadly so. It's a loop hole that's been closed and it won't suit all but is what it is . I have a staff member in a pickup that had to buy just before the law changed . He has 5 years at cheap rate if the car makes the mileage. Then it's commercial something or hybrid.

By the time the 5 years is up I would be surprised if there wasn't a fair few options available. There is the swb defender commercial and I think Toyota would be insane not to start importing the swb land cruiser as a commercial. And some of the SUV's would be fine as commercial.

How long till this shower of sh*t of a government decide that a defender isn't a commercial though? Already heard rumours .

I’m not sure the next shower of s**t will be any better 🤣. s**t is still s**t!

As I am fond of pointing out , yours and my opinions (agri/rural/small business) are not important to the current incumbents. We are the fringe.

They could just do what the grenadier has and just not have the rear seat rail and belt mounts/brackets.
The problem with the defender and discovery commercials is all the people who bought them who then did a rear seat conversion, straight forward job as everything to bolt to is already there, needs welding in the grenadier.
How many of the converted defenders/discos have then declared it's been done?

I've given up arguing with the ones I know about.
Personally I'd never do it.
Can't get a straight after out of the convertors.

Imagine a serious prang with your kids in the back.
Insurance are bad enough on a good day when all is legit.
Would be a bad situation but even any small bang or even being pulled would probably end up with the policy being void once the insurance finds out
There seems to be quite a few companies offering the conversions to varying degrees I think the defenders don't have the same rear door inserts unless the whole door is swapped.
